Default STi TMIC lag with our 2.0L w/vf turbo's...

i plugged in my AP today, looking to see when i hit full boost in cold weather...it sucks waiting for full boost!!

with a vf-39, sti pinks, samco inlet hose, sti TMIC, and stock intake, i'm hitting 17 psi (which is what my target boost from my protune) around 4,000 rpm...

i know i could use the cobb stage 2.5 map with this setup, but would i expect less lag with the stock top mount intercooler compared to the STi tmic i have on?

it makes sense, for the vf-39 to fill up less intercooler space with the stocker vs. the STi tmic, but what rpm's do you guys with the stock intercooler with cobb's 2.5 map reach full boost at?

so, i guess my question is this: would i get less lag with the stock intercooler with the 2.5 map???

i'm starting to think that STi tmic wasn't worth the extra $$$ because of the lag...

So, your custom tune was done with STi IC in place or you added that after your tune?

I think if you got protuned with your sti tmic, and got protuned with stock tmic you would have more power w/sti tmic and no noticable diff in lag. Thats just my guess.

i had the protune with the STi tmic...but i'm wondering if i put on the stock tmic and uploaded cobb's 2.5 map if i would have less lag...

i'm wondering if its worth trying...but i want to know you guys' opinions before i'm committed to the install, not like it takes that long anyway...

Definitely not unless your tuner completely f'd your custom tune.

I'm confused here. Why would you want to go to an OTS map designed for the stock IC when you have a ProTuned map for the bigger IC? From what I understand, you won't see much of a difference in lag between the stock or an STi IC when ProTuned. The point of the tune is to adjust for your car and its specific mods. I'd keep it if I were you and continue to run the ProTuned map.

I hate to say it, but your tune or car has some problems... a VF39 should spool a lot quicker than 17 PSI @ 4K RPMs. there are a few people on these forums running 20Gs that hit 20+ PSI @ 4K, and the 20G is a much larger turbo...

I'm running a VF39 with pinks and whatnot, on the stock intercooler. I've been Protuned and I get full boost (16.8psi) at about 3500-3600rpms.
