Talking Sorry no pics yet!

Hi guys,
collected the car on Friday night and have done 150 miles so far (which is quite hard on an island that's only 9 miles long!). No problems so far, although it's really annoying to have to run the car in. At least I know that it hasn't been thrashed though!
Here's the spec for those of you that're interested:-
EJ205 engine (2l turbo, 177bhp, 170lbsft, 6500 redline)
5 spd manual
rear LSD
6.5x16 alloys
cloth interior
cruise control
CD player
heated seats, wipers, and door mirrors
aircon
moonroof
headlamp washers
alarm/immobiliser
colour - silver (more blue tint than my last one)
aero sidesteps & front mudguards (not fitted yet)
S-Turbo floor mats.
Actual working hood scoop (it feeds the intercooler)
(or you could go to www.subaru.co.uk and get the specs from there)

This is my 1st turbo engine and I'm having lots of fun even though I'm being gentle with it. The turbo doesn't whistle at all if you're gentle on the gas, but give it 1/2 throttle above 1800 rpm and you get a nice whistle which seems to go around 3200rpm (but that's 'cos I have to lift off then!). You can definitely notice the difference compared to my old engine (2l NA 123bhp), the old engine was much more progressive and you had to rev it all the way to the redline to go fast (well, that's how I drove it! ) but the new engine really surges forward once the turbo kicks in. I think the best way to describe it is that you go fast without even trying!! Acceleration in 1st gear is so savage it's doing 4k rpm before I know it so I wait for 2nd gear to give it any throttle to avoid buzzing the engine!
Fuel economy seems to be on a par with my old car too (150 miles, just over 1/2 a tank left).

I'll get pictures as soon as it stops raining here. I also apologise for making you jealous, but once I drove the turbo demonstrator that was it!!!

The 170 ft-lbs don't tell the whole story. The sweetest part is that the torque peak occurs at low, low rpm. So there is no lag and it's much quicker than the numbers would make you think.

Congrats.

You suck. We have to spend thousands of dollars to have one of those. That's after paying for a Forester without a turbo!

Default Cost

It would have cost me 18245 had it been cash, so it's still thousands over here!

Someone asked for an engine bay pic in the members gallery forum, so you'll get one of those tomorrow hopefully.

Thumbs up !!!!!

OMG!! Are we ever going to get that beast over here? Is that the same engine in the WRX? If so, then why does the Turbo Forester get no lag in the low end like the WRX? And again, does any one know if we are going to get something like that over here?

Arrow Engine

The engine is the same as in the UK turbo 2000 (the pre-WRX turbo) but it either has a smaller turbo or just uses less boost. The WRX engine has variable valve timing or something and produces 227bhp. The forester engine produces 177bhp. To compare specs go to www.subaru.co.uk . I'm not sure but the euro S-Turbo is supposed to give 205bhp.
