There is a lot of shared hardware between various USDM and JDM systems. Actually, openecu.org might be a good read.

Oh sorry bout that, 05 WRX, im running a JDM ECU as it came stock and wanted to know the diference between this one and a USDM. Basically im searching to see if its worth it to put a USDM + CobbAccessport or go with other methods of tuning.

i think if you are willing to buy a usdm ecu and an accessport, save a little bit more and just get a stand alone.

I really dont want to depend on the local tuner to get my car tuned, i want something to just plug in and go.

JDM ECU's also tend to run more advance than the USDM counterpart. Partly due to their availibilty of a more exotic, higer grade fuel compared to our piss water.
