phishing scam. .ru is russian, so unless you live in russia or bank in russia, it's not legit.

I don't understand how some people can even START to believe this. Its obviously a scam. Your bank will never, ever, ever, ever ask you to verify information over the web.

Make sure to report it to your bank so that someone else doesnt get screwed. The bad part is that either your bank sells your email address to 3rd parties, or they ripped it off some how.

That link is obviously from Russia. Even without looking at the link, the horrendous grammar should have told you it is fake. I think I went cross-eyed trying to comprehend the first paragraph.

I got that email this morning, too. My new job uses Outlook and it gets spammed to hell and back. My account was created three days before I started, and when I logged in for the first time there were two dozen messages asking if I wanted cheap meds or to increase my potency.

I got one from EBay last week, which is funny since I've never used the thing...

It was just odd that they knew which bank I use, my correct address, and my e-mail addy..

Anyways, I tried to find contact info on chase's site to forward the scam mail, but no such luck. They do have a telephone number which I called and got an automated menu which didn't have anything about security/identity theft.. oh well.

Any time anybody asks you to "verify" your information online, it's most likely a phishing scam.

so...
  1. Contacted by email
  2. Not a secure (https://) protocol
  3. Website in Russia (example.ru)
  4. Incorrect date on website

Yeah, you're being phished.

Personally, I never "verify" anything that I didn't initiate the call on. If you own a business, you get all kinds of phone calls from people wanting to "verify" your address or telephone number. It's a scam 99.9% of the time, and idiotic business practice the other 0.1%.

Yes, but the grammar is 10x better than the average NASIOC poster is capable of writing.
