Question Legacy Performance Parts...

I was planning on getting a new WRX this year but given the new design, I've decided instead to try tuning my 98 Legacy instead. Does anyone here have a list of places that I can get parts from? I've checked out a few links from the boards here but most of the stuff (surprisingly ) is Impreza related.

Well, what year of your Legacy is yours? I have a '99GT and a '98L and I'm getting several parts produced (tuneable exhaust system, body kit etc...)

if you'd like to see the muffler we'll be using with the system :

All of the above, I was hoping you'd respond (Subie Gal). More than anything else you're little beauty there proved to me that I could actually have some fun with my Legacy! What I want to do is a Supercharger/Intercooler, Body Kit from Cobb, Suspension, 17In Rims & tires, Exhaust and Clutch...

GTBGuy: It's a 98GT 5 Speed. I checked out Rimmer, but the only kit they seem to have is for the SOHC (>=99)... I figure what the hell, with the exception of Subie Gal noone does anything with Legacies. Mines out of Warranty and almost paid for, what the hell. I didn't REALLY want an Audi anyway The body kit on the link you supplied is the one I was interested in!

Retsyn -
The body kit from Cobb is from Zero Sports (and actually that was a kit I helped designed for Zero a couple years back based on the inspiration of the R32 Skyline). I guess you haven't read what I have on my GT did ya? Anyways, I'm going to be running a Bi-turbo set-up really soon... my cylinder heads are being extrude honed right now and getting a 5 angle valve job

The S/C from Rimmer won't work on the DOHC 2.5L, I would recommend checking out the turbokit from JC Sports www.jcsports.net I've had experience with their kit w/ an Impreza and all I have to say is Kudos!

If you'd like anymore info plz feel free to ask, I'm glad to help!

SubieGal - how was the meet this weekend in Van? I saw your car in a photo, unfortunately I couldn't make it, or else I would've asked my younger bro to bring out my decked out '98L as well as my '99GT... Hopefully when I come thru (going down to Cali) we'll be able to meet up, I would really like to see the DMS suspension!

GTBGuy: You did a great job with the front end kit! I figure that kit with a really good paint job should look SWEET! I'm thinking a smokey silver with about 3layers of clear. I live up in NH and I gotta have a little something extra between me and the sanders

Here is what I used to have on my 98 legacy GT.

Fujitsubo LEGALIS R silent type rear section muffler 45,500 yen
GAB HP 76,800 yen
kg/mm DR21 21,000 yen
Vacanza (Cusco)rear sway bar 12,750 yen
Syms front strut bar 22,000 yen
AP Racing brake pad type ZX F & R 36,000 yen

Add 30,000 yen for air freight by BAX Global (deliver to door) and 5% for international transaction fee, whole deal was 2,550,000 yen
(about $2400 deliver to the door plus about $20 for custom tax) Yen to dollar is 106:1.

Damn currency exchange, I got the same thing for ~$1900 (Yen was like 137:1 that time)

I got everything from http://www.checkerflag.co.jp This might be an alternative source if you want something different than most people.

TakaKaira has a lot for wagons, how interchangeable are those parts with the seans, if at all? I would think they would have more for sedans...
Thanks for the help tho!

Cool

Looks like you're going to have a blast tuning your Legacy. Here are some ideas that I've put on my 95 Legacy LS (which is N/A): 1) APEXi fuel computer - definite boost in horses, 2) Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulley, 3) APEX N1 muffler with custom exhaust (the underside of the Legacy allows you to get a pretty straight pipe from the cat), 4) JC sports Air intake (beware of delivery problems from JC), 5) KYB AGX shocks with Eibach springs (8way adjustable rear, 4way front - drops the LS about 1.5inches), 6) 18mm sway bar. You'll probably notice the biggest difference from the sway bar and shocks. Enjoy!

Guys and gals,

We have alot of Legacy parts, but not much is on the web site yet. We are working day and night on the site, and it should be ready soon.

We are also developing a full product line for the Legacy, some parts which have been kept top secret, but are about to be released.

We will be introducing about 5 of our own parts for the Legacy. We figured, hey, there's already so much out there for the Impreza, why not build Legacy specific parts!

Everything we have coming out is built for power, sorry, no dress up items. However, you all will be very suprised with some of the products which we are introducing.

Dyno testing is scheduled for 2 weeks from tomorrow (Saturday) and we'll be posting numbers for our Legacy Performance Package then! It should be very exciting.

So how many guys out there have '95-'99 Legacys? If there's enough interest in the Stainless Steel 2.5" Mandrel bent exhast system (fully adjustable for sound and backpressure) I'm going to get it made... if you want more info please post here.

Question

I notice that most of the stuff that has been posted here is all for second-gen Legacys. I am wondering if there is anything for the first gen (1990-1994). Or are the 1995-1999 Legacys mechanically similar enough to the first gen that I could use those parts? ANy links and or info is appreciated. Thanks.

Paul

LoneWolf -

Keep and eye on our other thread It is mostly about MY2000-up Leagacys, but it has some compatability stuff too... I am going to put together a table ("someday") with all the compatabilities.
