Question UTEC over poor Ecutek flash

I have recently installed a GT30r with supporting mods. I already had the Ecutek stage 2 flash, so I had a basic mail order flash done to be able to drive the car. I have the UTEC ready to be installed/tuned, but with my current flash, I've had idle problems. Car keeps stumbling/stalling. If I get the UTEC tuned, will it fix this, or do I need to fix/tune the flash before adding the piggyback UTEC? Don't wanna spend the $$$ for a UTEC tune, then have the same problem. Thanks.

Assuming you have a standard MAF tube size, standard injectors and are running stock fuel pressures, i.e. you don't have a scaling issues, then you should always start any tune with the engine in good order.

Pete

I've got the Perrin GT30r kit and it includes the big MAF. Also added PE850 and the Perrin Fuel rail.

the best thing to do is get the oem ecu tuned for a baseline, then tweak that baseline tune via the utec.

you don't build a house on a shaky foundation.

Thought the UTEC might runaround, so to speak, the ECUTEK. If I have to tune the ECUTEK first... major $$$$.

Why don't you just tune the EcuTek map on there for the appropriate mods and be done with it? Or do you really want to run a UTEC.

yeah $$$ but a well tuned ECUtek flash with a UTEC over it is an AWESOME thing to drive.

Want the UTEC for the selectable maps, ability to control Methanol injection and availability of possible tuners. Only Ecutek dealer around me will take hrs to get there.
