Hey.
My entire windshield is coverd with little shippings. I went to 2 separate dealers and both say that it is from a road salt they use on the roads here in North East. I asked them to compare my then 5000 miles windshield with one of some car in the lot. They would refuse. So, I got pissed and called SOA. They say - Shure we'll investigate. So, few days later they call me back and say that they spoke with a dealer and he says it is from road salt and that is it. They told me I can go to a different dealer for alternative opinion. So I did. But they told me same thing. However, I do believe that 5000 miles car should not have entire whindshield covered with little white dots. Anyhow, what do I do now? And how can I get rid of those chippings? Thanks

You could move to California where they don't salt the roads!
and Vern! ...nice one on the "from" field! |

No pictures. It would probably not show much in the pic anyhow. It si just like rock chips on the class only really tiny, like 1/2mm- 1/4mm in diameter.

I have a 2001 GT and I also have had problems with the windshield chipping. I guess the windshields are as quality as the paint haha.. My first windshield I got replaced cause the chip was right in my view and a week later I get another chip in the corner. My insurance company replaces windshields no deductible and no charge but still I dont feel it should be so easy to chip

Don't pick on Subaru for this problem. I have had these small chip problems on my BMWs and I think that windshield glass is just too soft on the surface. So easy to get sand blasted on a windy day here.

Oh! and don't blame Subaru for the lousy paint because it affects all the cars now. If you go to Edmunds forums you can see these complaints in the Mercedes forums and in the BMW forums. Paint formulas have been modified by order of the EPA (water based now) and they just don't hold up as well as the older cars' paints.
