Default Another dealership experience

This isn't a "dealership" bashing thread. We all have our opinions, but this is my experience from today...

Went down to Docksteader to check out a new 2002 TS wagon for a friend, since I know the *magic numbers* and overall it's a good valued car.

Walked into the showroom, and wasn't greeted by a doorman since it was the weekend. Didn't get approached by any salesmen, but I wasn't surprised. Yet, two schmo's seemed to have the time to be stepping outside to gawk at my car... So then I made the call to Specialty since I didn't like the atmosphere here and would sacrifice the drive out to N. Van. to see if they had any test drive cars, but they didn't so we were stuck at Docksteader.

Finally my friend casually speaks out, "Is anyone actually working around here?", hehe, and finally a young guy helps us out. We get stuck talking to a different guy - Louie.

We took out someones used GC8 RS auto for a spin since they didn't have any 2002's to drive. Some one trade in for a Rex who had red painted calipers, on their BRP MY00?

This is how things went:

a) He starts talking about my personal crap, like am I going out with this girl I was with, blah, blah... more than we're comfortable with, so I tell the foo to do his job and mind his own business.
b) I mention if the numbers work out right, we may buy sooner than later.
c) I offer invoice + 5% profit + tax + PDI and rest of the stuff. Fair offer, save you and me time and haggling - an easy sale.
d) Louie says he can't calculate that since he doesn't know the invoice price (ok, so you guys fly by the seat of your pants to make money on cars???).
e) I say BS...
f) Louie says that you can't do that calculation these days, and makes an example by making up a fake invoice price and adds my 5% profit and shows that it ends up being close to MSRP anyways. He says my theory is correct but my procedure is wrong?
g) I think about giving him the finger...
h) He continues on about how he can sell around MSRP giving about a 100-300 dollar discount easy to other customers, blah, blah, blah...
i) I'm like fine, it's just my offer, we'll look around elsewhere and decide.
j) We get a pamphlet at least, and as we leave he blurts out, "I hope we can still be mutual about all this even with our differences."

Basically if he were a real prick, he'd say, "Oh, we sell enough at MSRP so I don't have to sell you crap at your price.". :monkey:

Hmm... no service?? The first time I went there I got introduced to a sales person by my dad's friend that works in the volvo side of DD. Nevin was my sales person, there was some price difference at first but it worked out later after we got him to visit his supervisor (whoever he ask for approval on pricing) it worked out at the end.

I think whenever you have no connections they will try to get as much money as possible, esp the one everyone tell not to go to.

But it seems like every one who have visited specialty seems to have a good time there with excelent service. If one place doesn't work out go to the next and try.

Stupid me - couldn't get a deal in DD and ended up in Richmond, not wanting to make the extra drive out to NVan.

Seriously, I actually liked the service there, just couldn't work out the numbers.

I bought my old TS and RS at DD and I got very good service from my sales person. When we were discussing the price of the car they always started from the MSRP. I think it was because the sales man cannot promise the price without going through their manager.

Just ranting... but I thought the guy was a total prick 'cause he knew how it all worked, yet he still proceded to try and rip me off. I know where the real gold is, so of course I'll be going to N. van.

well, when i puchase my impreza MY00 rs at dondock, a salesperson "Bob Townson" helped me out alot.

before i go to docdock, i went to richmond subaru first,
but the price didn't work out...and they did not offer genuine fog light for their US bumper upgrade package(only hella 500).

then i went to docdock, this salesperson can help me order any genuine things, inculuding the US bumper(but i have to give them the part #,since they have never done this bumper upgarde before)...and the price was...around $500 off the deal we suggest at richmond subaru...

when i went to check out the S60T5's, Adam helped me out and he was pretty good about it, and kept me quite up to date with their inventory list.

btw... your friend... was she the one that was with you when you showed up for the meet on saturday?
