Default sell my car to get my wife a G35C?

Hey guys, most of you know me. I need SE's advice here.

My wife has been driving a 98 Integra LS auto since it was new. It has 103k and still runs great. The problem is, she is bored with it.

I brought her home all kinds of nice Subaru's to check out but she wasn't too excited about them (STi, Spec B)

We found a nice G35 coupe at SOG that they are generous enough to give me a great price on it. She test drove it recently and liked it a lot. (she liked G35C for a while)

So now our plan is to sell my car and buy her the G while I drive the Integra for a while.

But I don't want to give up driving a Subaru, although my wife works really hard and deserves something she wants. (note to the unmarried guys: THIS IS COMPROMISE AND MARRIAGE)

Plus I have a blast Autocrossing my WRX.

let's here you take on this situation.

Why not sell the Integra and then buy the G35(maybe you can help with the payments)? Sounds like a good compromise to me considering the only reason she wants to get rid of her current ride is, "she's bored with it". Yes, I'm married

You know my take on it Pat, but I've never liked those or the 350z too much.

Great cars no doubt but boring to me... to be honest, I'd rather have the sedan version if I was going to get one.

Other non-Subaru cars in that range I'd consider are:

- used S4
- New Golf GTI (yes I like them that much) or GLI
- Used 3 series coupe
- Altima SE-R
- Civic Si

I still have a year of payments on the WRX. Two payments of $400+ is not going to happen. So the Teg stays

Good idea, but if I looked up the Integra even remotely correctly, its not worth enough to pay off 12 months of a $400 pmnt.......

I would try to work this route as best as possible, though.....I like this idea...

Dave Ramsey says, "keep the integra, sell the wrx and pay cash for a nice used car for the wife. Save and work nights until you can afford what you really want." The borrower is truly slave to the lender.

Well, find out what your payoff is. IIRC Sometimes, it is lower that what you owe because intrest has not accrued...

Also, if your off by a few bucks, just work on mustering up a few bucks -- Or Tack it onto the amount financed for the G35...

if it were me i'd find something thats about a year off that your wife would like better than the G35, sell her on that, when the time comes, you would have A) paid off the WRX and get to keep it, B) sell the teg as a down payment for the new car

The smart thing to do is wait a year and payoff my car. I think payoff is about $5,800 on the WRX. I could probably get 4K for the integra but the payments and insurance would be more then i'd want to carry each month. I could do it but I don't want to.

alexdog1 you are right on with your words.

I think you need to find out how a Subaru wouldn't interest her, but an Infiniti would

Billy, what's up man?

She did talk about me selling the teg and getting a toy I could autocross (I'm thinking a Miata) but I'd need something reliable to get to work. projects hardly ever make good daily transport and Atlanta doesn't have a good PT system like NYC (I miss it sometimes)

Tell your boys I said 'sup'
