Default Usdm 2.5l Sti

Hello,

I currently own a 2005 RS, modded. What I'm looking for is a USDM 2.5L STI motor...is there any place that I can purchase one online?

I have been searching local junk yards and I have actually found a few STI's but the motors are gone and so is the wire harness. I happen to steal the dash boost gauge and all for under 100 bucks.

Yes, I do plan on converting my RS into a 05 STI, but I have a lot of things to gather before I start making the swaps.

Here is what I have so far,
Entire STI dash and guages $75 Junkyard
Carbon Fiber ViS Hood (functional air scoop) $134 Junkyard
STI LSD (rear) $234 junkyard
STI sway bar, struts and rims, ECU/fuses $349

What I would like to buy/find
6spd tranny
USDM 2.5L STI motor (I would go JDM but it's to much of a hassle)

The motor has to be complete (injectors, waterpump, harness, all that good stuff.)

I have just about everything and as you see I have not really spent that much money. MY Goal is to see how cheap I can convert my RS to a sti. So far I think i'm making progress. Once I get all these parts I figure about 3-4 weeks to compplete it. Until then I have a gas saving geo that I can ride to work in.

Any help is appreciated.

I've got a complete 05 STI Drivetrain if you're interested. 11k miles. Engine, Transmission, Wheels, Brakes, Hubs, Axles, Driveshaft, Wiring, Suspension, Control Arms, Crossmember, Rear Diff, complete car harness, Dash Components and Gauge cluster minus airbags.

No Seats, Interior, body panels, or lights. Just a drivetrain.

fyi, when you are swapping the engine, you shouldnt have too much trouble with wiring. This si due to the fact that the wiring diagrams on the 05 rs and the 04 sti are almost identical (boost and such will need to be added obviously). I am not sure if the 05 and 04 engines are exactly the same. Something to look into, but ya, get the wiring diagrams. Will get rid of a big hassle

I have an automatic transmission (4spd) I think that would be a serious hassle if I was to install a 5spd manual or 6speed because the wire harness. Quote me if I'm wrong but from what I have been told there is a huge difference between the manual and automatic wire harness.

Call me crazy, but I think this would be a huge waste of time and money that could be better spent selling your RS and buying a used STi for ~$25,000.

Yeah I was thinking about buying a STI, I bought this RS for around 15,000. I sat down and talked to my dealer about having a STI and he told me that by the time I finish paying off interest and all that I will have spent 40-50K. The RS I spent about 25,000. I have to go through a bank as I don't have 25,000 cash laying around.

I know alot of people swap motors all the time in there old RS's. I don't plan on doing the swap till I have 60,000 miles on my car because that's as long as my suby warranty goes :P. I have a lot of friends that have made the swaps in thier 2005 RS's. One of my buddies bought a STI from ebay for about 9,000+500 shipping which was wrecked but the motor and tranny were in great condition. Even has the nice blue STI seats.

Right now i'm just gathering parts...the hardest ones to find are the motor's trannys and electrical harness. I don't plan on doing this for 2 years or whenever the miles role on. I would like to get some use out of my rs motor first.
