Default "Pimpstar" Color LED Rims that can display digital images

"Pimpstar" Color LED Rims that can display digital images

http://customwheel.com/custom_wheels...oducts_id/1687

Quote:
The PimpStar is a huge leap forward in the evolution of the wheel. With the PimpStar's built-in full color LED lights, microprocessor and wireless modem, you can display virtually any image, including text, graphics, logos, and even digital photos!

The included software allows you to create your own images and send them to each wheel individually or all wheels at the same time as you drive! You can even pre-load up to six images into each wheel and program them to change automatically at the time intervals you select. The wheels are environmentally sealed, so you don't have to worry about going to the car wash; and they are powered by the vehicle electrical system so there are no batteries to run out or change, ever.

I don't think that $12,000 could be ghetto. Stupid, but not ghetto. Now what you need is to dyno your car and post the dyno readings as it's being tested.

There are already taxis running around with advert. discs on wheels that don't rotate, so I'm curious to see if these are going to be legal or not.

It does scare me that peple are still coming up with ideas to make perfectly good automobiles more ugly that the last stupid idea.

Yea, perhaps not ghetto. im actually impressed of how images turn out on that. I wonder if its good for a certain wheel RPM range or if it adjusts accordingly...

This was posted in OT a few days ago.

I think they're cool in a weird way. But it would be a cold day in hell before they were ever on a car I own.

Don't you just hate it when people take the brilliant idea you came up with and turn it into something dumb?

i've always wanted to make the top of my windscreen and rear window a scrolling ticker. It'd be great for telling a tail gater to get off your bumper or telling the dude in the ricer civic who just cut you off "it's definitely sucking."

There are $10 kids toys that do this. This technology was invented in 1927... back then they just called the lighting up of pixels on a medium based on a scanning frequency 'Television'.

If that's not ghetto simply because it costs so much, I have some $10,000 underbody neons for you.. and they blink!

....and to add to that. I could do this in my basement. I spent a couple of years doing R&D for LED lighting on Emergency Vehicles. (ever see LEDs on cop cars? I helped create the original protoypes) Creating anything using LEDs is just a excersize in microcontroller programming and a browse through a DigiKey catalogue....
