Default Base Vs Real Time

I tried looking for this simple question and couldn't find it. I just got the AP loaded the base stage 1 93 oct map...what is the real time map...whats the difference. I also think the car is slower now. I've driven it about 50 miles and I think it's still slower. Please don't yell at me, I have feelings too you know.

Wow, you did a search and didn't find one of the most talked about topics for access port users in the past year or so? Anyways, the basemap and the realtime map contains the same information and at the same time doesn't. There are many parameters in the basemap that the realtime map can't change. Then there are many parameters in the basemap that the realtime map can override. Such as target boost, rev limit and some other stuff. The basemap needs to be flashed in to the ECU's non volitile memory. You have to put the car in diagnostics mode to flash a basemap. The basemap can not be erased by resetting the ECU or pulling the battery. The realtime map can be pretty much changed on he fly without putting the car in diagnostics mode. The realtime map information is placed in a memory area that is volitile. A ecu reset and or loss of power will erase it. In the event that there is no realtime map, the ecu will load the basemap information in to realtime as well.

Realtime Map: You can change many parameters on the fly.
Base Map: Contains some information that can't be changed by the realtime map but must be flashed.

Hello Hypnotk. The base map is what is flashed to the ECU. Real-time maps are used for switching maps. So, you have the Stage 1 base map flashed, but you are going to the mall and don't want your car stolen. You then switch to the anti-theft real-time map. Then when you get out of the mall you simply switch to the Stage 1 real-time map.

Using real-time maps does not reflash the ECU. It just tells it to alter whatever if flashed to it. You should always have the base map flased to the ECU that most closely supports your mods. They have underlying information that makes the most of your setup.

As for your power, make sure you have flashed the ECU with the Stage 1 map and that you are not using the Stock Mode real time map. Someone else made that mistake a while ago. Stock mode is just that, it makes your car run like stock. If you do have it at Stage 1 correctly, give it a few days to learn and adjust. It is faster, smoother, and much improved over stock.

Hope this helps. Now, GET OUT THERRE AND DRIVE THAT THING! (sorry, you told me not to yell and I just couldn't help myself )

Search works for me. It may be your browser. If it is, get it fixed asap. There is so much information here at your fingertips. You just have to use the good old search.

Once the ECU flashed with stage2 base map, can it be reverted to stock if needed?

Yes, it can. Uncle Scotty has some good links for you above. Take a look at those and let us know if there is anything else you might have questions about.
