Default Anyone saw SBK today? WRX related:

I was watching SBK today (sunday) and as they were about to take off, I notice the safety car in the back. The safety car had round headlights, big air dam, foglights, and hood scoop. And I was thinking what car it was cuz that car looked very familiar, and as I was staring at it, I realize it was a WRX!!!! I'm pretty much sure that it's a WRX but I may be wrong.

jonathan

P.S. I know you guys must be thinking "how boring is Subies?" Well, you correct. I'm reading The Scarlet Letter and yes, it's for school or I wouldn't be reading it. It's the most boring book I've ever read!!! Anyway, gotta hop back on my stupid book. Peace!:monkey:

It's World Superbike. I guess you could say it's like F1 but it's not FIA.

No form of motorsport is more exciting to watch on tv then any top level motorcycle series; MotoGP/WSB/AMA superbike, supersport etc......

Rally drivers are nuts, but they don't bump elbows and knees leaned over at 130mph with 5 other guys.

Pure insanity

I just got done watching it. I assume the safety car was Merc, but I could be wrong.

BTW did you see the two huge crashes? The first crash with Bayliss looked like an Isle of Mann TT crash, and the second crash the only thing you could see was Corser's inverted body fly across the screen.

Never did find out how Corser is...

Troy Corser's fine..although he did eat a lot of dust.. literally.. New World Champ Troy Bayliss has a fractured collarbone.

Oh.. and I think this belongs in Motorsports.

What's more amazing than Laconi's win in the second race is the fact that he crashed so hard in the first. That was one nasty looking hit. Kudos to Laconi and Xaus to making the end of the season more interesting.

Default yeah yeah

.........But I wanted another Collin Edwards winning season! Damn early problems with RC51 caused some points losses. Oh well. He is a really nice guy. We meet him at the airport last year when he returned to Houston after his SBK champ crowning. Had him sign my helmet.:monkey:

Final World Superbike championship points:

1. Bayliss, 369
2. Edwards 333
3. Bostrom 312
4. Corser 284
5. Hodgson 267
6. Xaus 236
7. Chili 232
8. Okada 176
9. Yanagawa 170
10. Lavilla 166

Next year, unless the Ducati factory completely stops development on the bike, its going to be a huge fight between Bostrom and Xaus for the championship (unless Haga returns).

I like Colin Edwards too, but lets face facts, and he's not aggressive. I'm sure Xaus scares the bajeezes out of him with his crazy spider man moves. Passing anywhere. And BBoz is unstoppable when he's on it.

The reason Xaus is so good now is because Michelin have finally come up with a front tire that he likes.

Will we even seen televised WSBK anymore now that MotoGP is going to 4 strokes, and the upcoming rule changes in both series?

Haga won't return to World Superbike... He'll be riding a Yamaha OW-1 four stroke GP bike.

Sounds like Carlos Checa really wants to be riding a four stroke GP too... I say ditch Biaggi and make Haga and Checa the two top Yamaha GP riders, since Biaggi doesn't like sliding and that's probably going to be the order of the day on a >200HP four stroke GP bike.

Anyway, SBK on the average is a good deal more competitive and therefore (to me) more exciting than GP bikes. Will that change next year?

600s are the best racing, those guys dice it out like mad. I enjoy it all though, any of it is better than sleeping... err, watching F1.

Yeah.. I think the 600s are the best.. Andrew Pitt (another Aussie) won the World Supersport Championship on a Kawasaki. These Aussie riders are everywhere, cleaning up championships. Hopefully Valentino Rossi wins the 500 cc championship.. with Mick Doohan running the team he's got the best on his side.

I thought I saw the WRX on Sunday. I am watching it again right now and there at the start of the race is a Silver WRX sedan as the safety car. You can't miss those head lights. During the race you can see it sitting on the out side of the last corner. I am watching it on the computer, so I am going to try and take a snap shot.

In the last shot with the pace car, it rounds a left hander, and looked like................

a wagon!

Well if anyone has space on the web. I got a 3meg Mpeg, that is 3 clips of the WRX at the last corner.

Get me on

I remember in Assen, The Netherlands, thay have been using a bright orange GC8 WRX for that past few years as a pace car in both the FIM Gp series and the SBK.
