Funny thing is, there's a big group of STU cars down in Illinois that usually run fairly well. Not sure if they don't plan on attending, were just going to onsite register or if they werent going to register until right before.

We have the same issue with the Ayer Match Tour. I think the issue is that it's index based competition and not everyone perceives their index to be favorable (whether it be true or not). See also S1-S5/B1-B2 for Pros.

At Grissom, we know in our STU car that the chances of us making top 10% pax at a large event is almost nil. With a big Cmod class and some fast STC cars, we're lucky to pull out top 10 at a 60-70 person event. With a small STU class, we typically go for index only and our ego's always end up bruised lol.

surface I agree, course design.. well... I still can't believe the latest match tour had THAT big of an area without any 'element' heading down to the 'prison turn'. Obviously course is the same for all cars, but to me the fun factor was way down on the design. best part was the slalom to the fast right hander after it, the rest seemed quite similar to the Tour in '12. oh well.

I'll still see you both at wilmington, and the toledo pro if you are trying to get in.

And so we finally meet...

Shane just signed up for Wilmington so we should have a pretty good crew down there. Looking forward to it!

I am SO pumped for Wilmington.

Yes Grissom is awesome and honestly the match tour course was fun for me being a Peru-regular. The things I didn't like (for awd heavy cars, STU etc) were the 3 inredibly sharp turns. The left after the first turn around, the left after the slalom/fun right hander, and the f-ing finish. Hate those finishes.

Waiting to hear a response from Tirerack on our tires, but we're having some issues with the ZII's. If Austin wants to divulge more, he can.

oh yeah.. 2.5L with grunt.. i'd hate those evo-momentum killer turns too :P

Mr. Luster, I look forward to being a class filler for your free-tire-extravaganza '13!

Strange I have NOT run against another EVO locally or nationally yet this year... maybe it is just my general location... no one with an EVO within a 200mi radius to Buschur keeps them in STU trim....

speaking of tires - hi Austin! - I have just put on a set of Rivals on 9.5" enkeis. Old set up was 225/45 Ziis on 7.5" BBS. On those, I ran about 45.5 f and 37.5 r (more for more rotation) with gc coilovers and SA konis, about 10k / 8k springs, 24 mm F bar, 26 MM rear, 3.3 / 0 up front, 1.8 / 0 in back.

Any suggestions on a baseline pressure for the Rivals? Lower than the Ziis I am guessing?

I've been working through setup changes to make the Rival's/Z2's work on my car, and I've found that extremely high rear pressures are working better for me. 45-50PSI. Fronts are in the 38-40 range. If I could still get new Z1*'s, I'd be running them.

holy **** those are high.

We run 36/35 on ZII's and expecting very similar settings for our rivals.

On the D spec/RCE Yellow combo we ran ZI's at 39/37 due to ***** spring rates.

I like a loose car, and the new tires are cramping my style. Maybe I should heat-cycle out a pair of them on the street for nationals use on the rear of the car

Just put some 225, treadwear 500, pep-boys specials back there... I'm sure it will rotate.

Mina, I'm running 41f/39r. Luckily, ZMax is pretty forgiving on tires, so it's a good first event to sort out pressures.

BFG has several g-Force's in the 300-400 TW range, one is even a 215/45-18, 0.1" off on diameter to 245/40-18's. I'm quite sure that would be loose.

The contingency does say they have to be BFG's on all 4 corners, not all 4 have to be Rivals.
