Default Mount front plate temporarily to get ticket signed off?

I need to get my front plate ticket signed off, but I don't want to have to drill into my bumper.

I was thinking of just sticking the plate on with some 3M double-sided tape when I got into the CHP parking lot

But then I was wondering if I could zip tie the plate to my grille...?
Does anyone know if this will work?

Thanks,
Brian

unless the cops are extremely nice, i think they won't sign you off unless it's fastened with lisence plate screws.

get one of those evo8 relocator mounts and that way the holes will be on the underside of one of the contours of the bumper, you won't even see it.

i'm assuming you have an aftermarket bumper, otherwise you wouldn't even need to ask this question.

but hey... maybe they only write those tickets so they can see you again when you come back in with it scotch taped to your car!

I have a WRX bumper with STi fog light covers, Splitters, and soon to be a V-Limited lip. Why would I not need to ask this question with a stock bumper?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-C...spagenameZWDVW
Is that what you're talking about? Where would I be able to screw it into?

Thanks,
Brian

I honestly think a front plate ruins the look of a car.

I already decided to remove the tint from all 5 of my windows....to take away one reason for them to pull me over. Plus I like the look of tintless windows now

because with a stock front bumper you could easily just screw it back in

whatever man. do what you want. just stop asking us stupid questions when you're the one causing the problem in the first place. the only reason i don't have a front plate is because it's not required here.

Because there are no holes drilled into the front of my bumper. Just the dimples that show you where to drill.

I'm sorry if asking a question on how to avoid drilling holes into my car is a stupid question.

most of the time they dont even give a **** about license plate tickets. just zip tie it or 3m it and if they say thats not enough when you get there, then find somethin else to do. i've never even had them come outside to check if i did, they just ask.

I got the ticket signed off today. I ended up using zip ties to secure it to my grille, and then 3M tape underneath it so it would not scratch my paint.

Turns out, the cop didn't even come outside to check. Lucky for me, it was raining. The cop looked outside and said, "Jesus, it's pouring out there"
I was going to have me pull around back under an overhang, but the gate wasn't open. He was a nice guy, though.

Thanks for the suggestion, kennyvb.
It looks like they cost about $35 for south coast Subaru. Looks pretty good.
But I already ordered the Plate relocator off of ebay before your post. Oh well, either one will work in the future.

Not all states' license plates have holes that line up with the stock holes/dimples. My freaking dealer drilled new holes into the front bumper when I bought my car

We need a swing type mount like the hotrodders have so that you can have it up when you want it up and down when you want it down. Usually they are powered.

I super glued bolt heads onto the license plate and then used 3M foam double stick tape...I've done it three times. Never got caught yet. It pulls right off afterwards. good luck. Ohh, ask the officer how often he gives these tickets to Corvettes, they love that!

My buddy just got a warning for the same offense here in WA, and here it's a ~$170 ticket. If you're going to break the law with something stupid like that, then you deserve to support the cops that are spending their energy to pull you over. Sure, the car looks better without the front plate, but in the end it's up to you just how much that look is worth.
For what it's worth, he bought an adapter since the WA holes don't match up with the stock dimples, and bolted the adapter to the stock dimples (now drilled out) and bolted the plate to new holes in the adapter. But, if you're really hardcore, the relocation to the side does look nice

Will do. Shouldn't take too long to receive it.

BTW they sent a detective out the last time...took a close look at it. Also looked to see that I had a back plate on. Now I don''t mess with the cops BUT why ticket someone for such a thing...waste of time if you ask me.
