Thumbs up

wow! a 2.0 turbo would be even better! but i think if subaru drops in the H6, Legacy can join the BMW 3series - Lexus IS300 war...

anyway.....WHEN do you guys think SOA will make the move?

Only problem of having the boxer 6 in the Legacy would be futher weight... the new Legacys are slow! (compared to the GT's between '97-'99)

I would rather opt for a 2.5L Boxer-6 w/ bi turbo set-up from the Electra showcar in Japan. Definately a jaw-dropper!

how about price hike with the H6? for reference, i just checked out the prices on different Outbacks in Edmund.com....the regular Outback (2.5L) is around $24k+, but the LL Edition (H6) is $29k+. that's a $5k jump! I know the LL edition has a lots more stuffs on top of the H6...so how much do you guys think the H6 Legacy would be?

According to AutoWeek (not exactly a bastion of accuracy, but they're right more often than not), the H6 isn't going to find its way into the Legacy GT. It will probably get the blown four, according to their report on the Outback with the H6.

Question

A ~3500lb car with a 2.0l turbo for the U.S.(bigger is better) market? I highly doubt it. U.S. buyers want torque since most of them never get their cars over 4k rpm anyway.

I've heard that the H6 will not be in the GT, instead the 2.0 turbo will be offered.

Who knows till they say for sure.

No, it's more likely "either-or."

I dunno what the base engine will be for the Legacies (except for the Outbacks), but it won't be the H6. Maybe the 2.5? But the GT will *either* get the H6 or maybe, just maybe the turbo. It's kind of a big car for the single-turbo 2.0L. Anybody know if the UK twin setup might be used?

It'd still be more fun to turbo the H6. Heh heh.

Just my $.02

Sadly the UK doesn't get the twin-turbo - only Japan (obviously), NZ and Cyprus as far as I can tell. There are plenty of new grey imports, though, pitched around 25k sterling (this is around US$38k, but remember 25k sterling will barely get you a basic 323i or Audi A4 1.8T).

Surely single-turbo 2.0 litre four would be fine in a car that size - similar power to a 330i (220+ bhp), and 1,000 rpm more. Surely this won't be lacking in grunt - unless you drive a Mustang in a straight line all the time in which case the car plainly isn't for you!
