Default Taking off fog lights to change bulb

I tried to take off one of my fog lights to change the bulb but it was striping the screw. Is there a special screw driver I should be using?
I was just using a normal Philips

I changed mine a few months ago,, and as far as I can remember, it was a phillips,, just make sure its big enough to fit in, and long enough to get some good torque on it.

No, just a Phillips, but I do find that some (wrong size) would tend to strip mine too.

Yah, they can corrode into place. I would use a socket and an extension to get in there. It's a 10 or 12 mm, I can't recall which. I was able to put mine back with a 10" Philips that I usually use for snowboard bindings.

I already broke 2 of the bolts holding the foglight.YOu can buy the backing plate at a subaru dealership if needed. I think it was around 20$.
To help prevent breaking future bolts, I used anti seize compound.

you dont need to remove the foglight to change the bulbs. pull off the plastic piece underneath the car and you can work from there.

WD40 & antiseize are your friends. And yes, it is a 10mm socket but even then you can twist the head off. I do this twice year when I swap out my winter/summer bumpers.

Well I used WD40 and a deep socket. I ended up breaking off two of the nuts the bottom left one on each fog light. So today my fog light covers arrived I need those 2 holes to put them on

So how do you take out the broken bit in the hole?

Drill a small hole in the middle, counter-clockwise. Then, drive a screw in, counter-clockwise until the whole bit come out

See post #8.

Its easy to replace, but if the dealership is willing to do it for cheap, then go ahead and have them replace it.
