Default I would like to get into motorsports but I don't know where to start.

I'll be turning 18 in May, and I would really like to take the advanced driving lessons and learn how to better myself at driving. I want to go to a track or possibly auto x, but as I am I would just make a fool of myself. I would really like to get into this, my only other hobbies at the moment are world of warcraft and my taking care of my car.

Where would I start? The only usefull mods I have atm are my pzero nero tires and cdr9 wheels. I was thinking new suspension mods or something...

Any tips on how to get into this would be appreciated.

Congratulations, you're all set to go autocrossing!

You need no mods or driver skill. You do need a car.

Seriously, you just find a local SCCA chapter and go to watch an event, or even just sign up to run right away. Every SCCA autocross I've ever been to has bent over backwards to help out n00bs. They will usually have a novice coordinator who you can talk to during the event to see how everything works, and who will probably be able to ride with you during your runs to talk you through it.

Don't worry about being lousy - of course you're lousy. You're new. NO ONE cares, I swear to god. Everyone starts from square one - no one is born knowing how to race, and the people who think they learn out on the streets are kidding themselves. Oh, you're gonna be terrible - you'll get lost on course, you'll hit a few cones, you'll probably come in dead last in your class, and you will have the time of your life.

Just do it, autocross veterans seem to really like new drivers as long as they dont act like they know everything already.

Don't spend any money on car modification until it becomes the thing that's actually slowing you down. That doesn't happen for awhile. The learning curve is steep, but those few runs where everything seems to just come together make it all worthwhile.
