help me decide which way to go with my next build(ej22e content)
sorry for the novel...
Need opinions on which way to go so I can make a plan and start gathering parts for the build this summer. basically my goals are a cheap-ish turbo motor with capability for 300hp and streetability.
I have these parts to work with:
ej22e bottom end
phase 1 ej25 bottom end
T3/T4(cheap from a buddy), will fab some pipes
(also have ej22e heads but not considering them for the build)
I would like to go with ej25 heads in either flavor, or ej20g heads. with the ej22e stock bottom end, SOHC will be 8.3:1, DOHC will be 8.6:1. ej20g should be around 8.1:1, havent run the #s.
ej20g: HLA's are maybe an issue?
SOHC: turbo oiling is more difficult than the others
DOHC:compression will be a *little* high?
school me on the injector/manifold options for these heads as I dont understand the power to injector size ratio
for the bottom end I figure I have 3 options:
rebuild ej25 with forged low comp pistons(in car, -1)
rebuild the ej22e bone stock(out of car, +1)
rebuild the ej22e to 2.35L and have a pretty strong motor, but CR will be way low with the good heads(in car, -1)
can my exedy stage1 and cable clutch 1990 leggy trans hold the power? clutch has like 5k and the trans has ~180k. would rather keep the setup, but maybe not.

Srry for bringing up this dead thread. I found it when searching and it's pretty much the question that I wanted to find. I am planning on turbo-ing my ej22e. Is there any head/ piston combo that would bring me out to around 9.0:1 compression? I'm not too worried about sohc or dohc as long as the head can flow enough for 250whp max, thats all I really want out of my car. With a port possibly? Thanks.
