I'm going to be in the area for work so it'll save me a lot of driving to see it!

I'm making my first trip to OTPR this year. Will be working controls or something so hope to see some of the fun at PIR.
I think Matt Johnson and the orange rex is gonna take pgt this time.

I wish I could run OT also but not enough money to do both it, Olympus, and Mt. Trials.
I would rather wait until Olympus Rally in May anyways
Car #187 how are you doing with a 1.8L rally car?
I have a 1995 1.8L and it is very frustrating to drive sometimes, wanna check to see how someone else is finding all 110hp.

Did you buy the red 2 door from some guy in Portland? I tried to buy that and he accepted my offer, then sold it out from under me!!

I've only done one rally, Rally NY USA last weekend, all tarmac. I didn't care if I was slow or not, I just wanted to do the best I could with that car and FINISH. I got beat by a 2.2L. I'm planning on putting a 2.5 in it - I's give up my Rally America 4WD waiver, but I'm planning on sticking to ESRC anyway. My co-driver has a lot of experience, and he was on my case not to lift for 5s, 6s, and crests, but he found that he couldn't tell what I was doing because there was so little power!

Yep, that was me
You probably were better off not getting the car, I have had a number of issues and have put $$$$ into the car to get it going good.
Brakes were bad, almost as if they were never touched in all 177,000 miles.
Engine had a number of leaks, one leaked onto the headers and kept on making horrible fumes inside the car.
The strut tops were not reinforced.
Clutch was well used.
The skid plate he was using was a joke.
Cracked windshield.
Without the help of a number of friends and fellow rallyist I doubt if I would have made it to Doo Wops.
There isn't much hope competing with the 2.2's, 2.5's, or WRX's but I got the car for the platform and to get me out there driving so I can get more experiece driving, not to beat people!
I already have a 2.0L WRX motor sitting in the garage that I have to rebuild for the big jump to Open, but I figured maybe a year or two running the 1.8
Although it is frustrating trying to accelerate up a hill into a R3 and try to accelerate out of that before the next corner....

I bought mine with a CARS logbook for $6k, then I had to:
add 3 bars to the cage
replace the belts
replace the seats (they were bottom mount on sliders)
get holes in the floor welded up
have a bracket welded to the cage for the Terra Trip
buy a terra trip
rebuild my old Tien HGs to replace the KYB AGXs
borrow wheels and tires

ALL rally cars are projects!

They are ok, it was more a decision of convienence - I've had them for years and nobody wanted to pay me the extra grand I wanted if I were to leave them on my old RS when I sold it. The Tien gravel struts are better, but they weren't out when I got the HGs.

I thought the HG's were the Gravel Struts.
What is the difference?

I can't find pictures, but the HGs are shaped after the stock struts with wide springs, where as the Gravel's are more like traditional coilovers.

(we've completely hijacked this thread, oops!)
