Default VF30 utec I need a FMIC map anyone?

I'm trying to find a map to run a newly installed FMIC on my 02 wrx with a vf30, pinks, tbe, short ram intake. Until now I was running on the stock inercooler and I don't want to drive it hard when the only maps I have are tunned for the stock top mount. I know the VF series turbo's are very common so I was wondering if anyone had a similar setup with a good map for a FMIC.

I have a pretty solid tune that you could use to start with if you would like, although I am using the stock IC still. I have posted a log below fro your reference if you are interested.

That tune is not "solid" at all. It might run the gears without knock but I bet a couple things. One you are down on power two your EGTs are screaming. AFRs are too rich and sporatic, timing is super flat and does "stair" like movement and your turbo isn't building boost well at all.

Just some constructive critisism.

Constructive criticism is always ok. I would like to point out though that my EGTs are well within safe limits (830 or so at redline). As well as it is a pump gas tune on a VF30, which they are happy at about 10.8:1. As I had said, I thought that would be a good starting point knowing that he has a UTEC to tune with. With that being said, he should be able to make any corections that he would feel necessary.

Sorry for wasting anyone's time...

By the way, "constructive criticism" usually includes suggestions on what someone can do to make it better, whatever is being discussed. There really is nothing constructive about your post.

Thanks though.

Hey I'm just trying to help. Sorry it was blunt but here goes a second shot.

4600 to 5700 is 10.5:1...thats a lot of midrange power loss and not the 10.8:1 target you specify. 31 lines from redline back and only 9 of them are at or above your target.

4800 to 6800 is 17* timing. Same timing for 2k rpm...shoulnd't happen. If you can run 17* that low you should be able to run more up top. For reference I have a map (not tuned to edge) running 11.0:1 on a VF22 running 22* at redline.

Full boost at 4000 RPM on a VF30...really slow. Check solenoid duty cycles and your low boost AFRs/timing.

11.X AFR even at 1 PSI. You can hold stoich (and should) up to 7 or 8 PSI. This will make the transition infinitely smoother, save gas at low throttle, and should encourage spool.

Fix those, I bet you will find the map a ton more enjoyable.

Default Excellent info...

I want to make sure that this thread does not get hijacked, although I would like to say that the last post that was made is the kind of information that is appreciated. I will admit, I was going for a conservative reliable tune, and I was aware that I was not making maximum power. I was also very aware that my AFR numbers are not perfect.

Unfortunately without a dyno I have no way of really looking at my power numbers. I am very aware though that even a difference of .1 in the AFR area can make a car an entirely different animal. Hopefully the information that you have shared will help out the original poster of this thread, and not just myself. When I get the chance I will go back out and see what I can get out of that map with a little more fine tuning. Thanks for the info!
