Default mounting and balancing in NoVA?

Hi, I just picked up a set of new falken ze 512s. I am going to need to get em mounted and all on my rims.

The tires are 225/40/18.

I stoppd by Midas at work, they told me over $60 a tire, because of the sizing. My jaw dropped. $240 to mount and balance my tires.

When I first got the rims, I had tires mounted and balanced for 50 bucks total. That was when I lived in MD. That place is not too convenient for me now.

Does anyone recommend any reasonably priced places in NoVA where I can get my 225/40/18s mounted and balanced?

Thanks,

Dan

Default well

I didnt buy the tires at costco, I bought them from the crossroads groupbuy at discounttire.

Anyways, I am not a member of costco. I also read that those places wont mount and balance unless you buy the tires from them...since mounting and balancing is included in that price from them...???

I am not a member of any of those superstores (BJs, Sams, Costco).

i know this isn't too helpful, but a place NOT to go is NTB off wilson. They royaly f-ed up my car when i brought it in for an alignment. left with 2 bent rims, pizza in my back seat, and 4 foot long scratches along the side of my car, scratched trunk, and they tore off some plastic taking my car off the lift.

JustTires.com in fairfax is generaly inexpensive. id maybe try there

Default average price?

I think when I wen to radial tire in MD a couple years back, it was $50 to do all 4 mounted and balanced...is that the going rate these days? Most places I seem to find are averaging almost $30 a wheel for 225/40/18.

Default 80 bucks

I dont mind spending 80 bucks, but i think spending like 120+ or so is just too much, not to metion over 200 that midas quoted me.

I only have rotas, i dont need to spend as much on mounting as i did on the rims!

where does everyone get theirs done?

Well they do a fairly good job of hooking up their regulars, but I think the *most* I have paid is $15 a corner. But I have never brought anything bigger than 17". You can always call to check.

I always mount and balance them myself. If you are military, then most auto hobby shops have all the equipment you need (valve stems, machines, weights, etc). I think it cost like 30 bucks or so to use the machines.

just brought a set to casey's automotive in chantilly, they quoted $20 a corner, to mount and balance.

I figure, i was there already and the only cheaper place was $16, and i know they will do good work.

Thanks-- what size was size? Did you like their work-- were they professional, knew what they were doing, didnt scrape up the rims, etc?

I am not military so that avenue wont work.

Thanks,

dan

currys in chantilly estimated:
about 30.xx$ per wheel for mounting, balancing, new valve, and disposal with special damage free equipment or something like that..they use Hunter something something system

springfield motorsports estimated:

Standard mount and balance $89.95
Standard Mount and custom balance $119.95 (all weights hidden)

Valve stems $1.95 disposal included. Springfield motorsports said they use a touchless system that doesnt touch the wheels

Have you tried searching on tirerack.com? You can find installers in your area and they give price quotes as well as customer reviews.

Springfield Motorsports mounted my 270/40 on my 17x9 rims - no damage to them. This was when Jon Dega still had the ownership. I paid less than 120 for this, but this was 5 years ago.

Default yeah

I called the tirerack places first off. The prices for the 225/40/18 is pretty high, like averaging at least 30 a wheel, so about 120+ for all 4.

I will try and contact those places you guys mentioned in your above posts.

Did something happen and install prices just skyrocketed? Or have they always been this high the past 2 years?

thanks,

dan

For that size tire there's no way you'll pay less than $100 unless you find a "hook-up", or go to a place that'll scratch the hell out of your wheels. Maybe try Quality Tire in Woodbridge? I think Ultimate in Chantilly is like $130.
