Will 03 utec work on 05?

Hey there,

I was looking to purchase a used UTEC. It was used on a 03 WRX i belive it was purchased in 04.

Will it work on my 05? can you DL the latest firmware onto any utec?

Yes.

Engineer speak: All versions of UTECs are compatible with all revisions of firmware.

I Have A 02 Wrx Utec On My 05 Works Fine Just Throws A Check Engine Light Because The 05 Comes With A Pcv Valve Sensor And The 02-03 Models Dont Other Than That I Have No Problems

ok heres the problem, i installed it hooked up everything except the abc because the hex key fitting is stripped. so i have my mbc for now, i also hooked up the remote switch and everythign seems to be working when i look at it through hyperlink the maps do change, i loaded stg1 stg2 stg3 from the txs site but i feel no difference between the maps, over all i feel a difference even when the switch is on 0, but as i change it feels just is it was on 0, any thoughts? thanks guys

At this point most of your power gains will be found by tuning boost. You won't be able to feel much of a change if you just manipulate AFR and timing. A dyno could show you a few hp here or there, but the butt-dyno isn't calibrated well enough.

I don't agree with that

Most of the time the base maps are so rich and run minimized timing that the car can feel transformed by tuning those variables. No dyno needed to feel the added torque and power. For example, tuning from a rich 10.0:1 up to 11.3:1 or so makes a significant difference that you will feel. Also, adding timing will really make it more lively.
