Talking opinions welcome, really!

heres where im at. i have a week left to get my swap complete. im debating brands and quality even compatability.

GOT: EJ20K (thanks to a 1998 JDM STi)

NEED: rad. hoses
belts: timing, acces.
water pump, gasket
oil pan gasket

WONDER: rad. hoses: EJ20/EJ257(matter?)
SPT vs. X brand

water pump: EJ20T vs EJ257 any quality diff.?
size is the same im pretty sure. and assuming same pump size, gasket is no worry. aftermarket options?

belt replacements: SPT or better brand/quality? higher HP capable ones?

oil pan gasket: ej20 vs ej257 are they interchangeable?

front trans. driveshaft seals: mine are gonna get replaced now since its out. are there options avail? and are they the same as USDM WRX or other?

and i've never really wondered about this being an interference motor until now? anyone 100% sure?

thanks for all the replies anyone sends. this will help ease my mind from parts store worries tomorrow a.m. -keith

radiator hoses: arent the same as USDMwrx/sti, V4 goes to the edge of radiator, US goes to the center. could get samco, but anyhting like that will be a wait. might look into 98rs or something.

power enterprises and greddy make belts. STi also has one.

just use RTV sealent for the oil pan

just get whatever is specified for your tranny seals. (dealership)

yes, you must be carful while doing the timing, get instructions if youve never done it. the valves interfere with eachother.

using V4 sti radiator, so hoses may be difficult? 2.5 rs maybe? i'll compare at parts store for proper fit. samco is the one i was gonna get unless 2.5rs fits, then maybe SPT.

belts from wrx is what i'll order then.
STi or power enterprise(which is better?)

ej22T pump/gasket will be ordered then

got RTV so im done there!

and i've done the timing belt on my OBS last year, so im ready again!

are there any LHD power steering racks that are better than the L? i'm gonna replace mine due to age and corrosion. thanks.

thanks guys! thats what i love about NASIOC! good stuffs! -keith

after a quick search.. It seems that all the RS' and wrx's, pre 2005 and STi's, have 16.5:1 steering racks..

I couldn't find anything directly mentioned about what the L's is.. But i imagine its about the same. So, it may not be an upgrade if thats the case..

I guess the rack in my L sucks..

yeah, 16.5:1 yuck rs is most likley better than L

and the timing belst are probably the same quality. STi is factory and you pay more for it.

I'm looking for a stock wrx not sti with a blown engine. Something to build, I don't won't to spend as much as it will cost to by one running.

I used my stock RS rad until I got my koyo in and I got some flex hose the right length for the bottom and modified the top one.
