Default Speeding ticket in BC

Got one in Kamloops on my back to Calgary. Will it show up on my Alberta driver's record? I did a search on other local forums, and I'm getting mixed answers.

Thanks.

I have got 2 tickets on the way to the shuswap the past couple of summers and they have never showed up on my record. I have to print my abstract for work every year and they have never been on it.

It doesn't show up on your record but from what I understand if you don't pay it and you go back to the province they might not be so nice to you.

Yeah, I understand that. My only concern is that it might show up on my drivers abstract, but it seems like that won't be a problem.

Thanks guys.

A friend of mine got a speeding ticket in South Dakota (190mph in a 60mph zone) and they told him that in 24 hrs there will be a warrant for his arrest and that he is not welcome in South Dakota ever again. They saw his AB licence and probably knew he would not pay. He never went back.

I received a $183 ticket (USD) in the state of washington for 13mph over, i advised the court in writing that I wouldn't be paying since it simply wasn't worth my time/effort to travel back to fight the ticket. They simply sent me another bill for $233 and a little while after that sent me some more paperwork advising me that I had been found guilty, and was liable for 3 days in jail if ever caught in the state of washington. I have been advised since then that the warrant expires after 5 years.

Oh, and a collection agency picked up the case about a year after that demanding about $300 US, I simply told them I wouldn't be paying PERIOD. They never called back and it _never_ showed up on my credit history.

Having had many speeding tickets in BC, I can honestly say that the demirits will not go on your AB license.

Also of note, if you do not pay the ticket they will send a collection agency after you after the 10-year anniversary of the date of conviction.

Please do not ask me how I know this.

Yeah, I heard about the agency thing but the ticket itself is only $138 I believe. Cool thing is I get $30 off if I pay within 30 days. Too bad Alberta doesn't do that.

The BC ticket for alberta drivers is only a fine. there are no demerits and it will not show up on your abstract. From riding my motorbike in BC for many years beleive me I know about BC tickets......

personal experience

I got a ticket going 45kms over the limit near hope bc( i know i know leave the comments out, I paid my dues). rcmp wasn't very excited to nail me but i guess they weren't too shocked either as they said i was like the forth guy around the same speed( huge downhill 110 km highway).

anyways I pay the ticket and it doesn't show on your alberta transcript. but the catch is it DOES go intoa central registry now which your insurance company coudl still acess and see it, apparently this is new. BUT insurance companies don't really care for that right now and all they care for is ur alberta record maybe in the future it will affect us but who knows?

hope this makes sense. so is point form
-no doesn't go on Alberta abstract
-goes into central registry
-can be pulled up by insurance but not likely
-should not affect insurance rates at all
