Default Any Stock '06 WRX Issues?

So Subaru NA is buying my problematic RS back next week, and I asked them to make me an offer on an '06 WRX wagon.

Question is- any inherent problems with the new EJ2577 motor? Idle control? Stalling? Etc....

Let me know..
Thanks

-Dan

The Clutch Sucks thats about it but I think thats with every subaru, um gas mileage sucks, uhhhhh After putting about 10k miles on my car I started to smell something sweet and thought I had a coolant leak turns out it was nothing, um my seatbelt is starting to squek? Basically man the 06WRX TR has been pretty solid for me Ive put 11k miles on it and not a single problem. Oh yeah well my clutch pedal started to squeak after awhile, went back to dealer they sprayed some crap on it its perfect again.

Every Subaru seems that have that squeaky clutch issue. Just oil the pivot point and you're done. As for the clutch sucking...it's fine, you suck.

The gas mileage and clutch are fine.

The only issues I have with the car are a sometimes awkward DBW system ('06 specific) and fairly unsupportive front seats - especially on long drives (all WRXs).

The new motor is great and the whole car is rock solid.

How do you say thats about it then go on about 50 things that squeak. I have 11000 miles and no problem except my wife complaining that I like my car more than her.

Hmmmm mainly what has been said so far. I do notice however birds LOVE my car. For instance this week when I parked it at school it was just cleaned the night before. After I get out of school(~7 hours) there's literally 14 bird crap spots all over the hood. AND IT WAS JUST THE HOOD(cept 1 on the fender). Parked in a big lot full of cars everywhere and no other car had bird crap on it. This has been happening alot.

If you've been driving a truck that gets 9MPG, ~22MPG does not suck lol.

What the heck is the DBW system?

Oh and the seats supportiveness is relative to how much lard you have around your gut. I weigh about 240 and I think they feel awesome.

are you kidding? the clutch being pretty "fantastic" the clutch feel is HORRIBLE, feels like your stepping in dog crap, dont take me wrong I love my car but the shift feel/clutch feel are horrible. The STI's clutch feels so much better and n 02 WRX clutch feels the best. the 06 WRX clutch is to soft feeling.

I've put just over 11,000 miles on my car since November '05, and I'm completely happy. Haven't been to the dealer once. The only thing I had to replace was a windshield, but that's not SOA's problem. Overall, its a very solid car. Fast for the money, reliable, good in the snow (with the right tires), practical...I can go on and on.

As far as the shift feel goes, it feels like every other wrx ever made. Replace ALL the stock bushings with poly bushings and you'll sing a new tune. Now, shift feel is AMAZING! Clutch feel could be better *I guess*, but it isn't terrible. If you think this car's clutch pedal sucks, you haven't driven enough cars to compare it to. Right off the top of my head, the C6 Corvette and MKV GTI come to mind as being much worse...

And to the above poster, it really doesn't matter if you like the new nose. Personally, I like it. Besides, the stock 06 headlights are the best non-HID headlights I've ever had on a car I've owned...and yes, I've owned a fair number. But, if you don't like the new nose...don't get it. You'll only be missing out on an improved engine, headlights, brakes, wheels, etc.

I had a check engine light around 6,000 miles, it ran fine. Turned out to be a bad O2 sensor. When they went to replace it the last 1/4 of the threads on the old sensor and the exhaust bung were messed up. They had to order a new mid pipe to go with the new O2 sensor. No problems 3,000 since replacement.

They loaned me a Tribeca while waiting for the mid pipe to come in, that was fun.

Only problem I've had is the passenger airbag is activated by weight. My g/f weights 110-120 lbs, the light will turn on and off the whole way down the road. Basicially its just annoying as hell, dealer said its fine and theres nothing they can do about it. I hope to never find out whether it will save her life or not.

Other then that everything has been tip top. The clutch has an "ok" feel to me and shifting is notchy, but I kinda like that. I really really like the way the steering feels and I like the stock suspension. Stock tires are, well they are stock tires dont expect too much. Only thing I dont like about the suspension is how high it lifts the car from the ground, the owners manual says the car is designed for the highway now, I wish it looked like it was. I'm ordering some Prodrive springs to take care of that.

The DBW feel just sucks. I could tell the second I got behind the wheel I was driving by wire, even though it felt more like driving by two tin cans connected by string (DBTTCCBS). Luckily the Cobb AP addresses some of that, so hopefully it will feel a little better to me once I get it in, hopefully early next week.

All in all I love the car, its pretty quick, and handles very well. Hopefully after STG 2 and Prodrive it will be pretty fast and handle great. Its definately Tuner Ready in my opinion.....

I've had mine now for about 4 weeks. I'm very happy with it. It is a blast to drive. The car feels solid. The interior in my imo is good. At first I didn't like the seats but after driving it for while....I really like them. My only complaint is the damn seatbelt chime but it's a good thing I need to wear my seat belt. If you get a good offer and a WRX is your type of car...buy it. One more thing if the center console comes with the armrest extender, have them remove it before you leave the lot. It is truly worthless. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to put something like this in the way of your elbow was a complete idot.
