Default Problem with Protune result. Experts advice wanted.

Just got Protuned at XX Tuning. IIRC, here are the numbers. Tony will be emailing me charts tomorrow and I will post it here.

Baseline
255 whp and 260 ft-lbs @ 18 psi
Post Protune
261 whp and 270 ft-lbs @ 18 psi
261 whp and 290 ft-lbs @ 20 psi

Here is a list of mods on my car.

VF34
Borla Hush catback/header
Mad dad version 1 downpipe catted
STi TMIC
Perrin pulley
Nino uppipe
One step colder NGK platinum plugs
Stock BOV
Home made catch can

Problem:

1. No matter how high we increased the boost, peak WHP we got was around 261whp, but max. torque achieved was over 290 ftlbs.

2. Peak pressure was 18psi and tapered down to around 14-15psi range by 6000+ rpm. Car is just not holding the boost... as a result, power drops down to noticeably above 6000rpm. We searched around for potential leak, but we were unable to find it.

Can somone please guide us to reason why my car is experiencing such problems? Post Protune car has become smoother and makes more power, but it's lower than my expectation.

Tony believes that it's due to restrictive downpipe and catback (catted and quiet design). Maybe it explains as to why it's only making 261whp, but we can never figure out why it's not holding boost... dropping from 18 to 14psi is just too drastic IMO. Tony tried to tighten BOV spring, but the result was the same.

Your input is appreciated. Please help...

As you can see boost tapers off to 14psi.

18 psi charts

Overall, car is making good usable power and feels very smooth. Tony has done a great job with protune. I just need to figure out why it's not holding boost.

what did you guys adjust on the map? Just boost? Stock BPV should hold. Change some wastegate settings. Use a 3-port solenoid. If you want more HP and less torque, lower you boost and adjust timing.

goodluck.

I agree, check the wastegate duty cycle. You may have to make some adjustments to the factory boost controller and/or change the pill.

according to my tuner, use of helper spring will require retune. Increase in boost spike in upper rpm range may cause knock.
