Default light problem?

dont know if anyone has experienced this before....At night every once in a while the lights on my speedo/odo/temp/fuel turn off. However, if i just turn the headlights off and back on the lights turn back on as well. Any ideas?

i have one light in my cluster that goes out for a minute now an then, but it comes back on on it's own.

the controlling relay is probably dying, think about it, when it overheats or something it pops open and out go the lights, off for a sec, cools, you charge it again and it pops the way it should.

i say test the relay.

how? get a couple little jumper wires (no, not jump-START wires) and a wiring diagram. get clipping and see if it behaves as it should.
