Default FMIC and AP?

I am just wondering something. Someone told me that running an FMIC with the AP would make me run very lean and could possibly cause detonation. Is there any truth to this? My current mods are...

TXS Turboback with 2 1/2" magnaflow exhaust (catless)
TXS FMIC
AEM short ram intake
TXS RFL BOV (recirc)

I have an AP that I was about to put in, but the guy that helped me install it said that it might not be a good idea because the AP will make me run VERY lean? I just wanted to know if there was any weight to his warning?

I was thinking the exact same thing as hornyturbo. Wouldn't I be better off running the AP so at least I have SOME sort of EM as opposed to no EM at all.

If anything, the Cobb maps on the AP are pretty rich, not lean.

Protune or your car will DIAF... But seriously you will have SERIOUS problems without a protune running a FMIC.

I am running pretty lean with a TXS FMIC. it is something like 14:1. This has made me rethink to getting the Ebay TMIC and a Cobb or UTEC.

My Dyno #'s with FMIC no EM

It's hard to say without datalogging the car.

Most people without tuning experience barely know the difference between lean and rich.

Your definelty not going to be re-asured by Cobb.

I'd make some datalogs and have a tuner evaluate your map's accuracy.

I ran a short ram intake, Spearco TMIC, xover pipe and uppipe on my stage 2 WRX, when i went to get it protuned we did a baseline run and the car ran waaay lean and was overboosting.
I am currently running a VF39 and i would never run a OTS map unless i used their exact mods!!!!!!

i ran a stage 2 on mine after i installed my turbo xs FMIC and i had a 10.5:1 AFR. its wierd. everything ive done and i never leaned out just got richer. i did the street tuner and it took about 20 minutes to get 11.5:1 on the first try and according to my LM-1 data log, it was steady straight through.

That's only partially true.

Yes, they run quite rich on the topend (> 11, tapering down to 10 afr starting at around 5k rpm).

The problem is at the onset of boost. My car would hit 15psi of boost at 3200rpm, but my AFR at the same engine speed was still 12.0. IMHO, that is far too lean, and explains why my car would be VERY picky about the quality of fuel it would run -- and the IAM would definitely show this by varying from 7-8 on crappy brands, up to 15-16 when using BP/Amoco fuel.
