Cool Just want to do a little poll... how many people have Legacys between MY'95-99?

Just curious to know how many Legacys are between '95-'99.

Sorry about the lack of response to your group buy efforts. I don't have that kind of money to spend on the car right now.

Question

So how many of you guys are into making your Legacy's faster? Is it me or it just seems like everyone that wants to go fast are just the Impreza owners and very few Legacy owners?

Personally I'd rather see the expression on a person's face that just got their doors blown off by a Legacy. Especially those BMW 5 series owners...

Oh well, anyways, I'll put more pics up when I have my BMW M5 eater (aka my GT) done )

Who wouldn't want a faster Legacy? Our problem is weight! And not just the driver's ! Heh, heh. I've done some mods and have definitely seen an improvement, but no where near my friends' Imprezas. Of course I only have the 2.2L - I guess I should bite the bullet and get the turbo kit!

I'm leaning towards staying NA for mine. I'll keep an eye on Cobb Tuning's progress with the heads and cams and stuff. Although I don't know that they are pursuing the dohc products like they are the sohc. Headers interest me, but not if they're junk.

On a side note, I sent RalliSpec an e-mail to ask if their intake would work on a Legacy. They said it should, but they are out of dohc intakes and probably won't produce more unless there is a large demand for them. It's hard to make a profit off the dohc version. I had decided that was the intake to buy, now I'm going to have to re-think that.

Well actually, in the twistys our Legacys will actually perform better than the Imprezas... we're about 200-300lbs heavier... but you have to remember chassis dynamics. We have close to 50:50 weight distribution, so it handles better (with the right suspension ofcourse). w/ my '98 Legacy L (slushbox) I've given quite a few RS's and also 3 Series BMW's a run for their money... just suspension mods (16" GT wheels w/ RE92's, 18mm Swaybar, Front upper strut tower bar, KYB GR2's w/ H&R's), intake & catback exhaust.

As for my GT, I'll be turbo'ing it soon... just waiting a little while more, need to finish collecting for my suspension etc...

Unhappy

With a 2.2 in my 97 L+ sedan every time I think about moding I think I should have goten a GT 97 or 98 with the 2.5 L. Damn impluse buy. The 2.2l just feels Like I'm starting out farther back. It also doesn't help that I've kind of fallen into starting my own business. No Cash. If I were to start modding my car I would probaly add go fast parts first.

Question

out of sheer curiosity, for all of you other Legacy owners, what other cars were you considering at the time....

for myself, before getting the GT, I was seriously pondering the Audi A4 1.8T Quattro... that and also waiting on the new Lexus IS300...

I don't know if you guys read the SCC coverage on the Audi S4 vs a decked out A4, but it was quite interesting.... damn, it's too bad money didn't grow at trees! (

If i'd has another 5K to spend i'd have surely picked up an A4 Quattro, 97 probably, and tweaked all hell out of it.

I also like the S4, but seriously...

IS300 is OK but i think the Maxima looks better.

Cool

yeah... the A4 would've been good... but bang for the buck, definately the Legacy GT.. it actually has a usable rear seat! The A4 was so cramped... As for the IS300, if they had their 6spd manual in there, I'd get it in a heartbeat... it's pricy though.... as for the Maxima, it's a nice car, but the rear is kinda funky.... and it's so nose heavy. I can't wait to try the new H6 in the Legacys... should give the Maxima a run for it's money... ~200hp w/ AWD!

Angry

I started getting into the idea of modding after I aquired my legacy and discovered this Board. It was shortly after that that I realize what I really wanted was either a GT or an RS. I only have my self to blame. Of course I did save a bunch of money by buying the legacy L+. I also looked at the mustang, escort ZX2, camaro, Honda accord. I'm making allot more money now than I was then even though that was only a year ago. After I had the Legacy I almost bought an S4. I just couldn't justify driving through an S4 in 3 years and paying a big chunck out of my own pocket to do it. I drive somewhere between 30->40K every year for my job.

Have a Nice Day?

Ack!! Anything but a Subaru?!! No way! Where I lived we didn't have a Subaru dealership, so I almost bought a Honda Civic. But fortunately a Sube Dealer moved in just before I put my down payment in for the Civic. Thank the maker, the Civic would have been a huge step down for winter driving! If I had more money at the time I would have got the GT. In any case if anyone has news about getting more horses and staying NA, let me know.

Well, I don't know if you guys know I have 2 Legacys. One '99GT and one '98L... but when I'm putting in my turbo in my '99GT, I'm going to be swapping my 2.5L into my '98L and increasing the compression ratio.

Our cars here in North America are only 9.7:1
I will be increasing the compression to 10.7:1. So for all you guys out there that want to keep your car NA'd then just msg me or something and I'll keep you guys posted.

As well, I'm going to be getting the intake manifold, heads extrude honed. I hope the Borla will come out with a header that works better. But other than that, intake, exhast, Ignition timing, Fuel would be the only other things that would work... not to mention an Underdrive pulley.
