Default Amateur driver killed at Buttonwillow...

BUTTONWILLOW, Calif. (AP) An amateur race car driver died during a race when his vehicle bumped another roadster, flipped and crashed.
Dan Lawson, 53, of Milpitas, Calif., died Saturday after crashing at Buttonwillow Raceway.

"He was a wonderful guy, a tremendous leader and great friend," said John Lindsey, the race director for the National Auto Sports Association.

The association rented the racetrack about 30 miles west of Bakersfield for a weekend of racing. Events continued Sunday.

The association, which has about 10,000 members, will investigate the crash, Lindsey said.

That is a horrible incident. I don't know if it has happened before in NASA and I wonder what may come next if anything.

Some kind of open wheeled racer - amateur event, car got tangled up with somebody and went airborne. Sad...
