Default no 'map 2' but all others report?

I may have a bad map selector switch.

I put it on position 1, and it reports 'switch 1, map 1'

I put it on position 2, and it reports 'switch 3, map 3'

I put it on position 3, and it reports 'switch 3, map 3'

all others work as they should.

It a push button encoder, so i dont understand how it could be messed up, cuz to report 3, it would be 011.

Ideas? Bad encoder is my guess.

Disconnect the remote switch and check to see if rotary switch on the UTEC itself reports its positions correctly. If it does then your remote switch is borked or the UTEC's electronics is damaged. As you said it's a BCD so my guess would be the UTEC itself so not much can go wrong with the BCD switch apart from bad cabling.

If the LSB is stuck it would do that. What about 4? I imagine it would think its 5....

Ok, just checked it again, and this is what i get

switch reported
position position
0 0
1 1
2 3
3 3
4 4
5 5
6 6
7 0
8 0
9 1

I'm not sure whats going on now.

I did notice when I was doing this test, that my CEL didnt flash 3 times (on map 3) when I started the car.

It's the rotary switch on the back of the UTEC, it is not on "0", i'm pretty sure of that. However I hae seen one TXS remote map switch which was bad. Disconnect it and use the rotary switch on the back of the UTEC to change maps. If it works correctly then its the remote switch

Well, this morning, i disconnected the remote switch, and tried the one on the utec.

Worked flawless.

Hooked the switch back up, utec on 0, 1,3,4,5, blah

popped the switch out, while it was on map 2, and viola, it showed map 2.

stuck it back in, and it went back to map 3.

HRMMmmmm

Wiggled the wires a lil, from the fuse area, and it started working. I think the LSB wire might be touching something inside the heatshrink.

One weird thing though, my CEL didnt flash 3 times when I started the car. I want it to, but it doesnt. I even stopped 1/2 way to work, let it sit, shut off, for like 2 minutes, and restarted it, no flash.

Thanks guys!

Jason

I have the same problem as yours. Mine work fine though if you switch from map 3 to 2. But if I go from 1 to 2, the UTEC will just jump to map 3. So mine is going like this:
1->3->3->4->5
or
5->4->3->2->1

About the flash cel, if you have firmware 5.0, it will not flash the cel.

i'm gonna pull the heat shrink off, and see if i can isolate the wires, so they dont touch, or check for a cold solder.

I didnt know that about the flashing cel, with 5.0, good to know.

Thanks,
Jason
