Default Tech Works Shim Under Bucket Question-Where to get replacement shims?

I am considering buying a used Tech Works Shim Under Bucket setup but am wondering where to get replacement shims?

I have emailed them twice now with no reply.

If they use the stock subaru shims Ive heard they run around $70 a pop. Hopefully they make them in house and are a little cheaper.

Thanks
Brad

OEM shimless bukets are $25 each and are alot better than any shimmed bucket.

You really have to call them...

I've e-mailed them a billion times and they typically take a month to respond.

shim under bucket is a one piece design(if i remember correctly). i once dumped a set of heads over and had to re-gap them. the buckets had the thickness printed on the underside.

when you order OEM, you give them the thickness your want and you get a whole new bucket.

Usually they respond to customers very quickly...but that might just be because of how much business I've done with them... <not trying to show off>

Call them, they're really nice guys! Once you call you'll want to talk a lot, just remember its Canada eh?

For sure, I just got off the phone with them today. I don't care if other places might be cheaper, they know what they're talking about and are really cool guys.

+1 for TWE

liability for your engine. top mounted shims have been known to break or spit out of the recessed area on top of the bucket in high hp applications. one piece = less breakage.

also their valve springs are most likely stiffer than stock to help valve float at high rpm. weak springs will prevent the valves from closing all the way.

its in your best interests to put in a new valvetrain with anything more than a stage 1 cam setup.

Shimless would be Ideal, but subaru stocks the shims that go under the buckets now. They are used for the 3.0L Tribeca EZ30R

I just got a response from Josh at TWE who said they are OEM Subaru Shims.

I wrote him back to ask if they are Phase I EJ25 DOHC type shims that are normally over bucket or are they OEM under bucket shims like what is used in the 3.0?

I guess the main question is if this kit is totally OEM just usable in various motors or has TWE adapted a bucket that accepts the OEM shims underneath.

I'll post once I receive an answer. There is a fairly significant cost difference between the OEM under bucket shims/solid buckets, and the OEM shims for over bucket design.

So the terminology is correct when you are inquiring for parts. The correct term are Lash Caps.

Just talked with a Subaru Master Tech and found that the only the intake valves of the Tribeca are Shim Under Bucket. The Exhausts are Solid Buckets.

TWE's setup has to be an adapted bucket to use OEM over bucket shims or "Lash Caps".
