I removed the air bags in a set of 03 wrx seats for my 97 OBS. First you have to unzip the two zippers on the back of the seat, and unsnap the bottom fold of plastic that holds the fabric down. Then you can pull the outside side bun upholstery up to the shoulder area and theres some foam to rip off and its a black box bolted on with 2 10mm's i believe. It's very easy, and takes about 30 minutes. The snap on the bottom is a long strip of plastic that you fold in over the frame. Each assembly weighed a couple pounds. very much worth it. If you have any foam you could stuff it where the box was, if not, it will just be slightly flimsy in the area and you can push it in, but its unnoticeable either way.
