Not exactly sure what the question is? Are you looking for a place to buy a setup from or looking for experiences. rallyx13 had a trailer hitch setup on my wrx before I bought it. Not sure what happened to it. Just a peace of mind but Kris had a rear diff protector on my car since whatever you're towing weighs the car down.

U-Haul. Given the number of Subarus here, they should have the right hitch in stock. Or, rent one of their vans for a few days, probably cheaper.

So, what's the new job?

Here at continental subaru we have hitches including the wireharness for $299.95 for the hitch or $515.95 installed

The hitch will take most hitch balls and are specified to tow the recommended tongue and trailer weight for the Legacy specified by SOA

If you want one installed call me at 261-0602 (ask for Phil)

For trailers I would also recommend U-haul. I rented a truck from them and had no problems.

Riddle me this...

Why does EVERY SINGLE CAR in New Zealand have a trailer hitch?

Are you a nation of towers?

the subaru one comes with a nice factory wire harness, plugs into prewired connector, and has rubber body grommits + brain box attached. don't settle for less!

If that's the case, then why's installation so expensive? Sounds pretty simple to me...

Hey, Ki, the Subaru trailer hitch is only for the Outback model. Sorry. So, check with Six Robblees or Trailercraft.

When are you going up Kiwi? Do you have to make lots of trips and such? Maybe we could work out a trade, haul for a stay... (insert evil laugh here). I have a truck and a trailer (snowmachine).

Oh, and congrats on the new job! Awesome!

I wouldn't necessarily agree completely with continental on the hitch situation.

My brother has a 2000 Outback, they were putting hitches on them in Missouri, but he neglected. Up here we saw hitches and asked Conti about a trailer hitch on his outback and installing it, at that time, they claimed Subaru did not offer a hitch for the Legacy or Outback. Ummmm... there were many with them on it all over town and in the states, and Subaru had in in the accessory brochures, yet Conti claimed it "wasnt offered".

i think the hitch still fits, just due to ground clearance it's not "ok" by the manufacturer. it involves removal of the exhaust system, shields, and inner trim panels, hence the cost. the harness is available seperately also, should you want the other brand hitch.
