Subaru Banner 99 impreza ts

Hi there i am rob im new to the world of subaru impreza. i had just picked up a mint condition 99 impreza ts 2.2 no turbo obviously i was wondering can i make the same modifications to my car as people with the 99 rs model? i am triing to find ppl with the ts model cause i dont know enough about it to make any changes . any suggestions would be great

Welcome to the club. As far as the chassis goes, the TS and RS are the same. What kind of modifications are you wanting to make, suspension, engine? Also, where in Canada are you?

i live in edmonton alberta i was thinking of doing a cold air intake for sound obviously it wouldnt give me any performance but shell run cleaner and also if i wanted to make enigine modifications wouldnt i be better off doing a wrx swap instead of adding turbo or boreing anything?

There's not a lot of readily available bolt-on engine performance products for the 2.2L, as compared with the 2.5L. Start off with suspension stuff (springs/struts, ALK, larger rear swaybar and good quality tires) and a short shifter for a sportier feel. If still not satisfied, look into swapping in a turbo engine from a WRX/STi/FXT/LGT. Not a simple do-it-yourself undertaking, nor a cheap one to have someone else do it for you. You could turbo the 2.2; it has been done before with varying degrees of success. There is always a higher degree of risk involved in putting FI on a N/A engine, compared to swapping in a complete turbo engine and ECU.

"Search" is your best friend on the board. Whichever route you choose, you most likely won't be the first one to do it...
