my 1st car is a 93 Civic bought on Dec 92 and sold it on Sep 97, and I put 180K mi on it. This includes 6 month of storage time.

Funny thing is, I sold the car for $5K. Talking about Honda resale values......

95 Legacy LS sedan - 90.5k miles (90% highway)

Here's a question for the higher mileage Legacy owners: When did you have to replace your water pump?

In general, I've heard that water pumps commonly fail around 90000 miles. My car just hit the 90k mark last week, and I'm taking my Legacy on a long trip to the beach next month.

How much did it cost for the repair? I've heard that the cost of replacing the water pump on Subarus is outrageous. Should I put a "water pump" fund into my budget?

My family has had 3 1st generation legacies go past 120k miles without a water pump issue.

'97 GT sedan - 56k miles

Regarding water pumps: I've replaced two on the RX, one at 60k with the timing belt and one at 120k when it broke. Still on the original with the other two cars, though I have a spare pump sitting in my garage in anticipation. If you're at 90k+ with a 2.5l engine, your timing belt is due for replacement in about 15k miles. Getting the water pump done then is almost a price-of-parts proposition, and pumps are cheap.
