Question Auto to stick swap?

There is a 5spd transaxle for sale on ebay about 30 miles from me. If I could get it for a relatively good price, would it fit in my car? I've heard the swap is expensive, so what else would I need?

the auction

Have a Nice Day?

I'm no mechanic but I think alot $$$$ wouldn't it be cheaper just to get a new 5 spd car?

I agree there, much time and money. Firstly I think the rear axle ratios are different between auto and manual. The auto AWD ones are 3.9, the Manual AWD are 4.11 except the Turbo which is 3.9 but I doubt that's the one for sale! so you need to change that also. The Legacy-Turbo tranny (like mine ) also uses hyraulic clutch setup so you would need all that stuff.
On the plus side, I hear the tranny's (even auto's) have a high value to salvage people so you might be able to sell it.

Just checked the auction, now notice that its from a 96 OB. so I actually dont know its ratio or whether its a hydraulic clutch, could find out though..

Good luck..

Thumbs down

It is way too involved to be cost effective. Aside from changing the tranny you'd need to change the rear differential, driveshaft, pedal assembly, interior pieces AND the ECU.
