Moved here when I was 17 due to my sister having 3 kids under the age of 2 and needed help. Left Florida for Chicago...yea smart idea. Still here 18 years later.

I voted 'moved here for a job'...but it was my stepdad's job that we moved here for, not mine. I finished HS here, went to college here, and found a job here.

I live here because its where I grew up, where I've purchased an apartment, and where I work. Would I live in an area where the cost of living is cheaper? Yes. But, I would need to have the same comfort that I have at my current job. I think the change in scenery would be exciting and fun. I'll probably wind up living elsewhere because living on Long Island is way too expensive.

Chased a girl to S FL - her company moved to S FL, and they moved her and I down here for free. I have always wanted to move from Philly...but didn't have the means or balls. This gave me both.
I broke up with the girl. BUT:
Turns out I got the best job I have ever had, and I stay here because of the weather, the beach, and the fun I have here as well as the job. I have good friends here, a great house, a great dog that I found in FL, and a job that allows me to live it up here.

I'm the only one so far that said 'because I like the area' so far.

wife's job, although there are a lot of things I like about the area (DC): good paddling, museums, lots of interesting public talks, etc

There is no reason for me not to continue living in Iowa. I love it here. Especially in the small towns. Everybody knows eachother, everybody is friendly with eachother, and everybody helps one another out.

I moved up here to New Hampshire when I was 12 years old. Never really left except for school. Cam back and eventually met my wife here and now we are living here because most of our family and friends are here. I could see maybe moving someday but not any time soon. Besides every place gets boring and turns into the same old thing eventually so while 'change' might be good, it is not permanent...

But since my work is here and will not be moving any time soon I will be stuck here for awhile...

Well, parnets and I settled here in the early 70's and, since they were older, I never really felt right moving far far away (although that's what I wanted to do). Now that my Mom has passed away I'm ready to move away...no more redneck riviera

well, thats an interesting question.

1) moved to columbus from my home town.
2) moved back to my home town for my husbands job,
3) because i know people here
4) liked the area

I met my husband, I moved to columbus to be with him. He got a new job back in my hometown, so we moved back to the area, because my family is here and it sa nice area... So.. it was happiness.

I grew up in this area, and from what I've experienced of other states, I don't want to move anywhere else.

My family's been here for generations, and there are piles of jobs and companies in the area.

My wife and I chose our town because it's close to the train, reasonably close for both of our commutes, and all of our family is in the area.

Originally came to Morgantown because WVU would be free. Now staying for med school because it will be about about 1/4 the price of any other med school (in state rates and scholarship pays half).

And I love the mountains. I will hate if I have to leave.
