Default 17" wheels. Rota torque or Rota Slipstream?

I'm looking to replace my stock wheels with a set of 17" rotas for the street. I plan to strip the RE070 off my stockers to mount on the Rotas, and use the stockers are my "off-road" setup. All it took was 15 minutes in the dirt for me to be hooked. Now I know what you crazy rally guys are talking about.

Anyway, I've narrowed it down to 2 types of wheels that I like. The Rota slips and the Rota Torques. I can get pretty good pricing for these, and it will allow me to break free from stock without much $$$.

Since the site's been slow lately, I figured you could help me pick.

Rota Slip

Rota Torque

I really want some Advan RC-II wheels, or even a set of RH J5 Pro but it's hard to find wheels that fit the STi. Then once you find a set, you have to sell a kidney to afford them.

I like the Torques, I think the Slip's look too much like a Honda wheel for some reason.

Why not OZ? But then again they are $$$$

OZ = $$$

I'd love to have a set of 18/19" SSR Professor for the street, but that's more than I want to spend on bling this year.

hypa's saving his pennies for a nice parcel of land, but still doesn't want to roll stock.

Plus after seeing how cool Tora's car looks on slips, and Jason T's on looks on RC2, 17" seems to be a good size for track days.

The Slips look better in those two pictures. The only thing is, I know of about 10 different Honda's in town running rota slip's, so that would be my only reason for not choosing them.

I agree Tony Subaru, they are common, but we're so limited in our wheel choices that it's inevitible to have multiple copies of the same car. The beauty of living where I live, is that there are so few STi's that seeing one is rare, let alone one with a nice F A T set of wheels.

aspect, I'm getting some pricing on the Royal Gunmetal slips right now. They're the ones with the polished lip. It seems someone bought the last set of Slips in Van already and I know who you are!

I like both... more so the Slip in these pics. I think to keep your 'stealthy, low-key, it's just a family sedan when you drop the kids off look', you'd be happier with the Slipstreams Just curious, but are the BBS stockers 18"? If they are, why would you go smaller for street? Aside from less rotational mass, i thought staying with 18 would be the way to go...

If you get Slipstreams, you and jamie will be twins..LOL.

I like the Torques..only becuase I had the Work Emotions before, so I'm biased.

Both wheels are good bang for the buck

SUBA: The stockers are 17s so it'll save some bling to mount the stock tires on there...

Suba, The stock BBS are 17x7.5"
An 18" would have been great for the street though.

Rota is the most clueless company there is.
They run it like it's a corner store with the motto "let's not stock, let the buyers wait weeks for inventory!"

clueless.

I swear jamie, I'm not trying to bite your style!
First the wingless, now the Rota slips, it looks bad but it's not on purpose!

Agreed fuka, they are great bang for the buck.
The torques are nice, but I already had a set of those. Granted, they were never mounted on my car, but I still had them dammit!

arghhhhh!
No one has the royal gunmetallic slips that I want, and since I posted this I've lost interest in the Torques. Nice wheels, but if I'm going new I may as well buy something I like.

Time to see if the Enkei RP03 17x8" will fit.

How about Enkei RPF1's? They got a sweet lip and they have 17x8 +35 and +45...the +35 will clear Brembos...RP03's will fit with a 35 offset for the STi.

I think both wheels are around $250-270US-ish..

Hey Hypa Dypa, I've got a set of flat black slips that I could be coaxed into selling.

hmmmmmm.....otherwise if you get slips are cars are going to look very similar (although I'm thinking you wouldn't go black anyways). I've got a set of bronze torques in the shop and they are pretty nice. Tough choice for you.

the problem is that the RPF1 looks small in a 17", and just doesn't jump out at me. There isn't a lot of style.

At least the RP03 have a spoke that goes all the way to the end of the wheel, giving it a bit wider, taller look. Doesn't matter though, because it's virtually impossible to find a +35 RP03.

On a side note, damn Fuka, you do have a lot of knowledge. I'm sorry that I ever doubted you.

I know I should just save for a set of wheels that I want, like the GC05 or Professors, but any purchase over a grand just hurts me. It's a riceboi mod, and thus it's tough to justify the $$$. hypa wants wheels and a new mtn bike, but reality says that he has to build a fence to keep the kids in.

j-dawg, the black slips are secksy, but I've already had a set of black slips. The only other option would be to polish them myself, but hell that's a lot of work.

You have 17" Torques you say?
hmmmm........ wanna pm me a price?

If it's nice enough, I can be swayed in that direction again. The bronze is a pretty color, plus I could start saving for some dirt tires for the stockers and put this project to rest.

I would love the RC2's as well. But $$$$. So, was going for Rota Actions but can't seem to get them anywhere. Where are you trying to get your Rota's from?

BTW, go with the slips

dsmtowrx, the RC2 are so sweet, but I can't sway my pal to sell me his. Apparently he likes them too much to give them up, selfish bugger!

I'm now trying to get my slips from anywhere. G5 had nothing, Mauro had nothing, subydude had nothing. The funny thing is that Rota in Cali has 2 Royal gunmetallic wheels in stock, but isn't interested in bringing in anymore?!?

WTF, is this a joke Rota?

Oh well, what do you expect from clowns.

I bought the 360 a few weeks ago and havent really played it beause of school. But geez, the graphics are just insane. I'm not much of a seirous gamer, just like to play when I'm bored. Get Fight Night 3 and we'll duke it out...I hear you were quite the boxer

At least you can buy the XBOX 360 for the kids as a "present", but lowandbehold, you'll be playing most of the time

Edit: Check ur PM hypa
