Unhappy Clutch Replacement time?

Hey guys, I started noticing 5th gear slipping at ~10lbs of boost a few weeks back, and since this clutch only has 30K miles on it, I thought that I could just work it hard to remove any glaze that is on it. (my wife drives it too, and likes to rev it up to 5000 and slip the clutch a lot. ) But now it slips in 4th and 3rd gear. 2nd gear started this morning. Am I to believe that I need a new clutch after all? or is the slipping the clutch making the "glaze" worse?

If I do need a new clutch, who should do the install? I had Modern put on the ACT Pro-Street clutch on it 30K miles ago, but don't want to spend $450 on parts and $750 on labor like I did last time. I don't have much extra cash, and need to get a good deal somewhere. Maybe a BBQ and beer party will entice some mechanically inclined suby lovers to help....

You can get a stock clutch off ebay NEW for 150 bucks. Sourcing the labor woudl have to be where you get creative.

So when the clutch is slipping, it's most likely that I need a new disc, and not the housing and all that other fun stuff?

most likely, unless your pressure plate took a dive which is unlikely. you can get a 6 puck for 90 bucks. you can save money doing it yourself but you just might want some confidence in yourself and alot of time with a bag of swears on the side for comfort

Yeah, I can probably do it myself, I just don't have that many "shop tools". Normally when I do engine work, I end up borrowing my neighbors tools anyway. the bag of swears I will definitely need.

If you need help, I might be available depending on when you start working. Personally, I would go with an entire kit if you can afford it.
