Default UTEC 5.0 and CEL code P0102

So immediately after upgrading to UTEC 5.0 firmware, I started getting an intermittent problem. Sometimes during warm starts (after the car has been turned off for a few minutes) I get code P0102, mass air flow sensor circuit low input, after re-starting the engine. A day or two later the cel will go back off. The car always runs fine and it happened right when I upgraded the firmware, so it's not a sensor problem, something to do with the re-flash. I did a search and a few other people have had this problem, but the threads never end with any resolution. Anyone have thoughts? Thanks!

Talk to TurboXs and request 5.0a, note "a" firmware. The "5.0a" firmware fixes this issue.

I've been having this problem for a while now and posted about it with no answers. I was actually thinking about replacing the MAF. I just called TXS and I am now going to load 5.0a.

I have the same problem. I did however replace the MAF sensor as it has almost 100K miles on it, and I noticed it was a little dirty. Figured it would be better to replace it than clean it.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of the 5.0a firmware?

I had this same problem. I was using version 5.0 with the stage 3 map loaded on it, when I switched to a bigger turbo, injectors..., I loaded the stage 4 map and haven't seen the problem since. I also replaced the MAF sensor, but it didn't do me any good.

OK...I have been running the 5.0a firmware for 2 weeks now and I got P0102 again yesterday. I reset it and we'll see if it comes back. I'm gonna be at TXS this thursday and I am going to ask them about it then.

Nathan at TXS sent me the 5.0a firmware. I loaded it over the weekend, and things seem to be worse now.

With the 5.0 the P0102 would come on maybe every 5-10 ignition cycles.

With the 5.0a the code comes up every other ignition cycle.

I am gonna re-flash the 4.2c and make sure there isn't a problem somewhere else in the circuit.

Bit of an update...

I re-flashed with the 4.2c firmware, and the P0102 code has yet to come up. Of course the car has only been through a handful starting cycles, but with the other firmware the cel would have been on already.

I guess my car is just a little goofy.

Its not your car. A LOT of people have the problem. I personally ignore it. I think a while back somene figured out it was only if you put the car to ACC but didn't start it for a little bit...then when you started it the CEL will pop up. I just turn off the light in the UTEC and live with it since it doesn't change anything anyway.

That could be the exact problem. I always leave the key in the acc position for a few seconds to let the fuel pump prime the system.

The light doesn't really bother me, but I live in NY and have my inspection (OBD-II) coming next month and will fail if I have any codes.

I plan on re-installing the 5.0 software after I get my inspection done, as I like some of the more advanced features in the 5.0 software.

Cool. Give that a shot and let us know if it works without putting they key in ACC. I too leave it there for the fuel pump to prime.

I guess I am on the other end because mine seems to happen when I stop somewhere for just a few minutes, get back in the car, and start it without letting the pump prime.

coyote73176 - When you were at 5.0a did the UTEC transition seem to be worse than 5.0? Maybe it's just me though.

I am not sure what you mean by the UTEC transition, but when I loaded the 5.0a the CEL would come on sooner than when I was using the 5.0 firmware.

If you mean the transition from ECU to UTEC control, I couldn't really tell you. I only had the 5.0a loaded for about a day before I went back to the 4.2c.

Sorry...I did mean ECU to UTEC control. For me...with 5.0a it seems to take longer for the light to come on, but it still did. Like I said in one of my posts above...I will be at TXS tomorrow to get tuned on a Green and FM .

I am going to ask them about it then.

Bumping old thread for those that may still have this problem.

I re-flashed my UTEC with the new 5.8 software. Cel for the MAF is now gone. Now to figure out the speed density fueling.
