Default Brake Man Rotors, DBA Rotors, Pads, etc...

I recently purchased a set of Brake Man two-piece rotors and pads, but when I went to install them, I discovered that the threads in one of my stock Brembo calipers had been stripped (damn mechanics using power tools). I tried to find a single stock Brembo caliper to replace it, but could not find anyone selling just one. The cost of getting a new set of stock Brembo calipers was almost as much as a big brake kit, so I decided to get the Stop Tech big brake kit. Unfortunately, this meant I could no longer use a lot of the brake stuff I already owned. This has left me with the following items for sale (please note that these are all from my 04 STi). I live in Bethesda MD and would prefer to sell locally so I don’t have to ship and so that you can examine what you are getting before you pay. If you purchase either of the rotors, I may even be able to help you install them (my brother has a lift in his garage in Cabin John MD):

Stock Brembo STi Calipers – The driver side caliper is in fine working condition, and as noted above, one of the threads in the passenger side caliper is stripped. I spoke with Brembo, and they said you could have someone repair the threads using a Helicoil process. The stripped thread is the one that is used to bolt the caliper to the spindle. Due to track use, the golden paint on these calipers now has a brownish tint and there are a few minor chips in the paint. Asking $350.

Brake Man Rotors & Track Pads – These are 12.8” two-piece front rotors. They have a flat surface (not drilled or slotted), which is recommend by The Brake Man for the track. These rotors are incredibly light, weighing only 12.5Ibs, which is 10lbs lighter than stock. This saves you 20lb’s of rotating mass, which will give you noticeably quicker excelleration and quicker turn in. For more info on these rotors, check out the this video http://videos.hspn.com/?videoid=12. Condition = Excellent, never used on the track, only 1,500 street miles of use. See attached photo below of the rotor on the scale. I have also attached a photo looking of the end of both this rotor (on left) and the DBA rotor (on right) Cost New = $1,500. Asking $700.

***********
DBA 5000 Series Two-Piece Rotors – These are 12.8” slotted front rotors designed for track or heavy street use. They weigh 18.5 lb’s each, saving you a total of 8lb’s of rotating mass. For more info, check at DBA’s web site at http://www.dba.com.au/dba_catalogue_2004/HTML/5000series/5000_index.htm. Besides saving weight, the other advantage of two-piece rotors is that if you wear out these rotors, you only have to replace the rotor and can re-use the hat. A set of replacement rotors is only $550 from Agile Automotive (http://www.agileauto.com). Condition – Very Good, only used for one track day and about 4,000 street miles. See attached photo below of it on the scale. Cost New = $1,000. Asking $450.

Stop Tech SS Brake Lines – These are for the front only. These will fit your stock Brembo Calipers. Condition = New (never used, they came with my Stop Tech Big Brake Upgrade kit, but I already had SS lines on my car). Asking $40.

Brembo Stock Front Brake Pads – Includes the metal backing plates. Condition = Good, they have about 4,000 street miles on them, no track use. They have 5/16” of pad left. Cost New = $250. Asking $100.

Porterfield R4E Front Brake Pads – These are Porterfield’s endurance track pads. Condition = New (never had a chance to use). Cost New = $250. Asking $150.00.

Pagid Yellow RS-19 Front Brake Pads – These are possibly the best track pads you can get for the stock Brembo brakes. For more info on these pads, check out the following link http://www.braketechnology.com/racecharacteristics.html. Condition = Good, only used for 1 track day and still have over ¼” of paid left. Cost New = $295. Asking $150.

No. I am still using my stock rear calipers. I would like to replace them, but have not found any aftermarket rear brake kits.

What would I need to fit the Brake Man Rotors to an 02 WRX besides calipers and pads?

I don't know. I do know that the hats on the Brake Man rotors are drilled to fit the bolt patterns on both the 04 STi and the 05 STi, but I don't know if those are the same for the WRX. I also don't know if the stock WRX brake calipers will fit over the Brake Man rotor which is a little wider than stock.

I sent you an e-mail last night. I assume you did not get it? It had 3 attached photos, so maybe it did not go through. Let me know.
