Default Just returned from Canada

We had a good 4-day trip up to Montreal and Quebec City.

Downtown Montreal was kinda like Boston - very busy and lots of stores and places to eat. The Old Port in Montreal reminds me of Portland, ME. The B&B we stayed in was nice. We took the Metro around to save walking time and parking headaches.

Quebec City was really nice, at least the old part was. We ate and drank at several different places. That place comes alive at night! The cops seem non-existent, which is great. No one seems to mind all the skateboarders everywere, and it was like the Fast-n-Furious at night with all the cars with fart-can mufflers and neon lights driving around.

We drove out to Mt. Saint Anne. They are still open, but barely. There's not much else out there besides the mountain. I thought there would be, but I guess Quebec City is where people go. 440 is a fun road to drive.

So, what's with all the Mazda 3's? I couldn't believe how many of those freakin' things I saw. They must be crazy cheap or something.

I barely saw any Subarus - one silver STi with gold BBS's on the highway, one debadged blue STi with a Subaru Rally decal on the hood in Quebec City, and a few older Imprezas and Outbacks here and there. There are thousands of Subies in NH, VT and ME. Why so few just over the border?

We drove back on backroads down through Maine which was way nicer than the highways. Anyway, it was a good trip and the weather was perfect.

They cost a lot more up here and we get paid a lot less.

And yep, Quebec is an awesome place. Fun and picturesque. Quebec City is really nice. If I spoke french, I'd probably move there.

I just thought I'd rub it in Jitenshaken's face that I'm going to Montreal again soon.

Glad you had a good time up here...next time visit the West!

Anyone want to buy a knife? 1/2 price if you help me get it out of my back.

Even worse is that my wife is going with her mother next month, while I'm still stuck dog sitting.

I may get back at her and go with a buddy of mine that has a scary love of strip clubs

take that Keiho. No GF and almost as many strip clubs per capita as Windsor

I lived in Washington for a year in 1995 and drove up to Vancouver a few times. It's definitely a great area. It's way more scenic than the Montreal/Quebec City area.

Oh Vancouver has changed quite a bit since 1995...and more changes to come in anticipation of 2010!

Now if only it was at least possible to afford buying a house here Vancouver would be perfect!

Glad you enjoyed your trip, as for the mazda 3 in quebec. If I'm not mistaken insurance out there is retarded and if you go on autotrader.ca you'll see tons of them for sale that were accidented. I'm from montreal, spent 26years there and also have a mazda 3 .
take care
you have to go during grand prix weekend, then you will have even more of a blast

Keiho--if you come here, bring the dog (better yet, buy a pup for me and bring it over! )

And there are TONS of Subies here! Maybe you werent looking hard enough, or in the right place. If you're downtown Montreal..you might not see a lot, because most people will leave their cars home and take the Metro. But if you drive around the city for a few days, you'll see plenty of em! Mostly Outbacks.

And I dunno why Mazda 3's are so plentiful. Theyre pretty good cars for the money actually, so I guess thats why. I've got a Mazda 6, and it's like every 3rd car is a friggin Mazda6...theres at least 6 of them in the area where I work!

Goose...my dog drives me crazy sometimes so much so that I was joking with my mom last night that I should bring her to Montreal to sell to you!

well, at first, I was partial to the black colour, but after visiting them in person, I really like the cinammon colour, or the light brown/white combination.

The black ones are really rare out here...I've only ever seen one.

But you're right, the red (second picture you posted up and same as mine) looks the coolest.

... or they've all been stolen!! Highest car theft rate in Canada. A group of us went to the TRAC school in St. Eustache two weekends ago and stayed at the Hilton in Laval. A Dodge SRT-4 was stolen from the parking lot between midnight and 2:30am, and an Audi S4 was broken into with a crowbar (door frame destroyed.)

But, the TRAC group is a great bunch. If you live in Montreal and haven't done their school.... Why the hell not???
