Default Good Punk/Ska bands?

After this thread...

What are some good punk/ska bands anyone listens to these days. I had a decent collection 10 years ago before I went to school in Montana. Someone stole my collection and I've never persued getting it back because while out there you can't get this stuff, and now I listen to radio faction on sirius which has a good mix and makes me want to get some new CDs. I wish I had ripped all my CDs to MP3s when that was first available...

I used to listen to:
NOFX
Pennywise
SNFU
One Ton Shotgun
Mighty Mighty Bostones
Dead Kenedys
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
Cherry Poppin' Daddies
Rancid

and some others I can't remember.

These days? I have no idea.

Just buy old stuff and listen to it. It's still good!

I'm temted to go rebuy all the CDs but I had probably 50... I'm not big into stealing music unless it's borrowing a friends CD and burning a copy...

I know they're a cover band, but nothing beats a hot summer day, with cold beer, and "me first and the gimme gimmes" blasting old skool hits from the speakers.

Don't forget the pogues either.

But you've already bought them once. I certainly wouldn't count that as stealing unless you sold the CDs or something.

I want to say The Offspring, since I think they are a good band. Just got too popular with the damn Come Out and Play song.

My thoughts exactly.
I've owned all of the Beastie Boys cd's at one point in time, and in that time they've deteriorated to the point where I can't play them anymore. I didn't feel a lick of shame after d/l'ing my library again.

Then I bought their greatest hits cd.

If you like SNFU, check out The Bronx, The Bouncing Souls and The Riverboat Gamblers. Especially The Bronx. Hot damn they rule.

other good, quasi-punk bands:
murder city devils
murder by death (not really punk at all, but cool and in that genre... cello)
A Wilhelm Scream
Rise Against (kinda like hot snakes or SNFU a little)
Social Distortion (duh... but the new one is surprisingly good)
Bad Religion (their new one is also surprisingly good)

Anything of theirs after Ixnay on the Hombre is not worth listening to and could probably be detrimental to your eardrums as well as your musical integrity.

OK, for those suggesting I DL them since I've already owned them, what's a good site that will keep me out of trouble w/o doing any peer to peer sharing? Also thanks grant and Jaygold for your suggestions. I've only heard of 2 on each of your lists so I'll have to check the rest out. Also I hear you on the Bboys CDs hypa... I have 2 copies of a lot of those, but they didn't get stolen and they're all in the ipod...

yea I'd agree, but even the good songs on that album started to gain more generic/repetitive/poppy elements and were just not the same, ya know? Conspiracy of One was just more of the same.

I can't choose between Ixnay and Smash

Millencolin out of Sweden, kinda of a Descendants/Bad Religon sound, pretty good stuff.
