Default Transmission problems with weather changes?

So, I've had my car for 2 months now. Twice, both times when the weather changed from hot to cold, my transmission locked up upon downshifiting and squealed tires. I immediately punched the clutch and all was fine. Whats going on?

Today I was coasting to my house, was going maybe 35mph in neutral, I reved the engine to 3k rpm, engaged clutch, put it in third gear, released clutch, and WHAM, my tires lock and I squeal.

Please, it's not my driving, or, at least pretend its not my driving causing this, don't flame me and help me brainstorm the problem before I totally fry my tranny.

Thanks, I am running a totally stock o3 wagon wrx

probably could have been a tad slower, but I didn't drop it. Still cmon, in 15 years of manual driving, suddenly developing a shifting issue?

would you mind telling me where you have heard of something similar anywhere? I am stumped, and everyone I ask just looks at me funny.

thanks

...my post, above, was supposed to express the fact that in the 50-odd months that I have been on this board (and I try to read most of the technical threads), I have NOT read anything similar....and YOUR issue is unique, to my knowlege.

I, very much, want to know what you find---if anything can be found---is wrong with your car.

Heh, I took it to the dealership, the guy said "it's driving fine now right? Ok so pray, and if it does it again, bring it back. But for now, pray"

how about gear lash?

maybe I had it wrong, maybe it was happening when it went from cold to warm. checked the tires today, in 40 degree weather for some reason all were 7 pounds over at the least, and the back were overinflated more than the front by 3 lbs, which according to what I've read the back needed to be less than the front by about 3 lbs, or you could get "gear lash" upon decel. Whatever that means.....

needless to say i fixed it, decel sounds smoother.... I dunno, I know I'm reaching. but I'm pretty convinced it's not my bad driving.

...after thinking about it a bit....IIRC...there is a similar thing that has happened that has to do with the wrong gear ratio rearend being installed---one that doesn't match the front---- and it eats the center diff and that locks up and the wheels lock.....I think.

...and your tire pressure thing is almost certainly the culprit.......
