Hey Subie Gal!

Lookin' at your list of mods and I have a few questions about your custom exhaust. Who did it [local shop?, tuner shop?, Mr. Goodwrench? ;-)]? What type of pipe did you use? Are the bends mandrel bent or crushed bent? Is is a cat-back system? What diameter of pipe did you use?

Expecting delivery of 2k GT soon and I want to start mods right away. Your help appreciated.

Oh, and most important of all...how is it working for you? Any problems from dealership about effect on warranty? Thanks!

Cheers,
markus

Thumbs up

OK, this is the first time I'm replying to a message....hope I don't delete this topic.

Jamie, I admire you devotion to the Legacy. I guess the late model Legacy looks like a pure touring car in its GT form. The Y2K i feel unfortunately look like the Suzuki's....Why Subaru! Why! Just because of this I might skip a generation and wait for the 2005's...meanwhile, I'll just rock on with my GT. Curious to find out about your muffler and custom pipe....on your car that is. I am still struggling with the decision to lower my wagon....

Wink Legacy's Rule!!!!

soooo....
I was driving back to my side of the bridge from Sea Tac this morning...I hit that spot between Federal Way & Fife where the BIG-GET-YOUR-ATTN.-VEGAS-STYLE advertisement sign is...ya with me?? I look up and here’s “the beauty of all wheel drive” “Subaru Legacy” And I see my pretty, pretty car up on the big screen!!
WAHOO!! Hey, that’s cool!!
I was so busy looking at the sign, that I got to experience the “beauty” first hand as I felt the car slide out from under me a bit.

Anyway, I just wanted to reiterate how great our cars are & taunt the Impreza owners a bit!! Wussup w/the Impreza’s anyway ??? Why don’t THEY get any press?? How come we get ALLLLL the press??? Hmmmm??? sorta makes you think, huh?? Maybe we got the best car after all!!

(feelin fiesty today)

LEGACY POWER!

Braggin'huh?? I must say Jamie I totally agree with ya!! mind you, my Legacy is a little older (a 1992)but, it's got much more class than these little Honda boy racer wannabe's, with my new exhaust (3inch from the Turbo on back) and the rumble that it makes (low and loud) people ask me more questions about what kind of motor I've got under the hood, I kind know how Bill felt about the whole Monica L. thing.......well kinda.....and with weather like it's been lately (rainy for the last 4 days non-stop) and all-wheel drive the roads are begging for me to take them at Mach 3 through the corners on a dark night and slide it like Juha at the Monte. Because the air intake sounds like it can swallow small animals and childeren I started avoiding Zoos and school crossing zones. the Turbo winds up so fast and so Loud I need to duck tape my jaw shut and my ears closed otherwise my Filling would fall out and my brain would pour out my ears in fact, I had to take my dog to the vet and have his ear drums removed because the Turbo whine affected his balance and he kept walking in circles.
yeah,...Legacys Rule......Keep up the fight!!!

Miller (Sidewayzzzzzz)
Have a killer Rainy Day!!!

Wink

whoa! okay guys, one thing at a time here!

MARKUS - the exhaust is great! I had one cat removed, used a 2.5" pipe w/2 nice bends in it. I love it. I had the work done at a local chain "Bucky's" muffler shop. There should be a few of them around. They sponsor drag vehicles, but they know what they're doing and the price was reasonable. I have had no problems w/the exhaust at all & after slappin in the intake - WHOA!! Major HP gain....more than expected.

GTMAN - lowering you car - you gotta be careful on this one. Where do ya live? Are you going to Rally-X? Ya gotta think about the snow, dirt, etc. if you're going to lower the car. I mean, I lowered mine BEFORE I started Rally-Xing, now I am thinkin twice about it. (only a 1.5" drop) I may stiffen things up a bit w/some KYB'S after xmas when i have $$ again! heh!

so guys....when are we gonna hook up again???
I miss you all - *sniff*

Can I pout for a minute? Living over in Central Oregon I have no friends. You guys suck!!
Jamie, you know me, I like to drive fast. Doubling corner speeds and the whole nine. Beings there haven't been any autoX's lately I'm getting really lonely. And I have the 'Need for Speed.' Maybe one of these days I'll come on up and meet you all. If you'd like a pic of an Oregon Legacy drop me a line. Akita and Jamie have seen it. 'Chow' -Matt-

Question

Miller, I'm new to this sight but I was just wondering where you got your full 3" exhaust, and if I can't use it because of catalytic converters here in the U.S. is there another way I can make it sound like that, just from a muffler or something. Also what kind of intake do you have?

Thanks Jason

Subelove??? well, I'll leave that one alone. anyway, the Pipe that I have is custom from a shop here in town, Mukilteo Wa. I heard that Shik is getting Rallispec to fit a exhaust from the Turbo on out for his Legacy. so stay tuned on that one. you can check the archives about the details of my exhaust I wrote about them in good detail. but the Readers Digest version is I had the Main cat removed (the one after the O2 sensor just aft of the Turbo.) and 3 inpipe to the end, I do have a Cat where the Secondary one was (the one thats in the Middle of the Car) it's a Hi flow cat. the kind that most muffler shops carry but when you buy is tell them that you want a "HI-Flow" one. of all the shops that I talked to in town they all said that they'd do the job if I at least had the Cat was under the middle part of the car, they were calling this the main car but they were wrond its not and since most people don't know this they assume that the one by the turbo is a Pre-cat and they'll remove it if you at least install the Hi-flow one. whewww clear as Mud???

anyway you can check the archives about the intake too. It's a Apexi I bought it from a fellow enthusiast, he got it from JC sports this is a great piece I recommend it!!! if you have any problems just post a message. I can give you some details about the installation.

I'm thinking about going to Co. for the Hill climb are you around Colorado Springs??

Have a Nice Day?

Miller, Thanks for the info, Whats wrong with Subelove, stupid but works Yes I live in C/S, you should come out fro the Hill Climb, if you've never been to it before it kicks ass. Are you racing or just watching?? One more thing with only one cat will the car still pass emissions??? Did the exhaust include the downpipe (I think thats what it is called, I heard they were horrible on our cars) Thanks-Jason

Subelove, My system replaced the Down pipe and I'll try Emmissions in January. I figure since it doesn't trip the O2 sensor that its probibly OK. you might want to get with Shik about what Rallispec said about the "Groupe A" Exhaust. I dunno the details.

If I go to the the race it will only be to Watch. I would have loved to see the old Audi's and the 405's run,,,,Sigh.....if I could only find a Video......Hmmmm.

Miller, try Rallysport( www.rallysportonline.com ) for videos. They have a ton a great prices and are nice as hell to deal with. I recently picked up the World Rally Review 93' video to watch the old Group "A" 555 Legacys dominate everything, well, not really, but they did do very well for being still somewhat new at the time. The Impreza on the other hand was a natural born winner right out of the box, but look who it got all it's good traits from! Anyways, give them a try. They might have something for you. BTW, what kind of boost are you running now? Did it change at all with the exhaust? Just curious.

Shik, at last count I have 13 Vids from Rally sport, I've got the 93 Review too it rocks. there is another Video that is McRae and Vatenen in car during the Artic rally both Driving Legacys. it's ok......60 Min of in car is a little much, well It may be better if I had a big screen.

anyway about the boost. I don't have a boost gauge so I dunno if it increased it feels a heck of alot more stronger. and the boost hits harder. so Id Assume so.
