Post Any used a "superchip"??????

I've seen these superchips advertised and I want to know if anyone has ever tried one? I recently "trained" my ecu and I know that it feels great. If a chip can do any more than that it would be well worth the money.
Let me know

What do you mean by "trained" your ecu? Clear its memory and then reprogram it with full throttle runs rather than everyday driving? I've heard of guys doing that in the Mustang world at the dragstrip, so I'm curious if that's what you did.

As for the chips, the only one I know of on the market is the JC Sports torque chip. I've generally heard very mixed reviews about chips. One of the big car magazines did a test about 6 or 8 months ago of chips on a pretty wide range of cars - I think they had a 3 series BMW, a full size pickup, a family car, and something else, I don't remember exactly. In all cases they saw little to no improvement. I'm not sure I'd part with $200 or more for something like that.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about that "training" thing but now that it's done I definately feel more midrange pull. And maybe this means nothing but my wife's Sentra SE and my GT used to be neck to neck and I was much faster when we raced the other night. I just got my G-tech 2 days ago so it's a little late to check w/ that.
As far as what to do, it's as simple as you thought. Make sure you have a full tank of good gas. Reset the ECU(unhook the battery,I've heard anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes). Start the car and let it idle to full operating temp(don't touch the gas during this time). Then drive car for the 300 or so miles with a heavy foot. You can do this without getting too much attention by shifting out of first around 2500-3000 rpm and putiing your foot to the floor. Don't forget to run it up to redline every once in while too. You will be teaching the ECU to deal with high torque situations.
good luck,

PS I actually was asking about the SUPERCHIPS brand chips. I've seen their ads in Sport Compact Car. They are out of Florida I think.

My weak memory is telling me that Superchips didn't have a chip for our cars. I believe that at one point, they were looking for a <strike>victim</strike>, er, donor car, but that was it.

As the RS and our GTs (and now the entire Legacy line, Dangit!! ) use the same engine, I would fully expect that we would see the same hp boost that Shiv saw on the dyno when he changed to a freer flowing intake and exhaust.

Personally, I think that this'd be the way to go...

By the way, make sure you put a space between the final colon (':') of one of the new smilies and any parenthesis '(' or ')'. The originals will override the new ones...</small>

I was checking out the Superchip web page, actually it was the British site and it says they have a chip for 91-94 Legacy Turbos, they say it gives +40hp or something like that, but thats for the british version. I don't think they have one for the newer Subarus. hope this helps.

I have this chip for 4 years. That time they still offer. From what I know JCSPORTS use the same chip because one guy I know he has JCSPORTS chip and he has some proplem, so JCSPORTS send his ECU to SUPERCHIPS to correct the problem.

If you want to know how I feel about the chip. For Legacy turbo, you have to have the aftermarket chip, if not you can't increase the boost over 8 psi. The chip just allow you to increase the boost and raise the rav limit. You can feel when it hit 3 to 4000 rpm.
