Default Having an awesome snow year in the NW...

...and I just had to share.

I've gotten in 8 days this year so far, which, for the past 4 years, is what I've done all year. Granted, 5 of them have been night riding at Summit-at-Snoqualmie. It's still enough to make jojotherider one happy rider. So far I think there's only been one day where it wasn't as much fun as the others, but it was better than sitting at home watching TV.

Tonight was pretty wet and heavy, but at least it was snowing. I think they got about 8-10" of snow today. it was pretty crazy to see the groomed runs covered in a ton of snow. Unpredictable conditions, but still fun. I did tweak my knee a bit, but at least it was at the end of the day.

Anyhow, I've been on this snowboard high since November and I'm loving every minute of it. Just so I can sorta keep it car related, I did pull my first 360 in the parking lot at snoqualmie a few weeks back and the WRX feels like a champ in the snow. I should probably check my front bumper tonight, though, I think I might have hit something while I was parking.

Anyone else having fun this winter?

Joel

I had fun at Alpental on New Years! So much nice heavy north west snow. I got in some AWD 360s that night too.

I got in a couple of days at Mount Hood meadows in the week after X-mas that made up for the last lousy [couple of] year[s]. My first day there it snowed all day and there was some thing like a foot of fresh at start of the day.

I've been pretty happy this winterso far. Next weekend...Idaho!

Yeah I'm having an awesome season this year too. 4 days at whistler, 2 or 3 at baker and almost 10 at stevens, this season is turning out great. I can't wait for this weekend (4 days at schwitzer he hee hee).

I am super stoked on this season, much more than last .

Yea I'm loving it too... although its been kind of an emotional rollercoaster with tons of snow - then 55* and raining then snow - then rain - now more snow....

So far several days at baker, a day at schwitzer, day at timberline, and a day at sunpeaks... I've had more variety this year then I normally do in 3 seasons

Yeah, this winter has truly been a blast so far, and its going to be a long long season too. Well into April if not May.

I haven't had a bad day yet (few days in the rain, still amazing). Seems like every day I say "that was the best run of my life!" I think I'm up to like 15 days now? And thats with a crazy school/work schedule too

the season pass at Snoqualmie is definitely a worthwhile investment. Especially considering I paid for it last year and it got extended through this year. Good thing too, I probably won't do many weekend days. I went to Stevens New Years Eve and it was probably my best day so far.

I agree with the love/hate snow/rain thing. Just checked snoqualmie's website and it's 35 deg up there.

kumho wet rain tires cant remember the exact model they're really good in the wet and okay in the snow. there was 2ft on the ground so studded tires would not have helped much the car just doesn't have enough clearance to get through that much snow

Heh, not too close (I live in seattle right on eastlake next to lake union) and I'm taking 18 credits as well as working....

But just like Twizz was saying, I haven't had a bad day yet. It's always the best day of the season pretty much every time out. Loving it.

Dan

I hit up Alpental on the 28th of Dec. Made the trek from Utah, it had been 7 years since skiing in Washington. But wouldn't trade the Utah Snow for Washington.....

So today at alpental....... hmmmm, how to explain.

Got there at noon after class. Snake dance was open (its been closed for like 3 years)..... basically all untracked, very very very deep, very light powder. Could possibly be the best day of my life, and I mean that sincerily. It was NUTS!

Got into some wet slush at about 60 and almost clipped a roadsign before it finally hooked up. Outside of that Yee-Haw! Goin snocattin this weekend for the first time this season, right in behind silver mountian in the floodwoods national forest.

SWEET love the pics, forgot to snap some... TODAY stevens was awesome. Rode all day, working on some tricks. My buddy landed a switch 720! A first for him we were all stoked. I saw a nice STI (06) leaving right as we were getting there (in a blue 02 WRX). Looked really nice, and I love seeing STi's and STI's up there. Leaving for schweitzer in the morning.
