Default New RA's

Can't help myself, im so excited I have to tell someone. A newly built RA 5 speed gear box is clearing customs in Edmonton and should be here early next week. Should be a good match for my current set up.

I have to ask [if you don't mind] - how much and where did you get it from?

Got it from World one Performance out of Seattle. New RA's, bearings and syncro = Ouch, should have bought an STi. ha ha.

My invoice looks like this:

WRX/STI Trans. case W/Ver. 6 RA gears $2645
(cryotreated and micro-polished complete)
STI Transmission bearings $250
WRX/STi transmission Syncro Set $250

These are US prices also. Lots of cash for a gear set that isn't a hole lot stronger than stock but I wasn't really looking at spending the cash on some PPGs/Kaas. Also, I was looking more for the Ra ratio's since my stock box is going on 40+K on stage 4 with no problems, and I am still below 300AWHP (just) so the PPG/Kaas were overkill in my opinion.

Why didn't you just get the gearset without the case? It would have been more than half the price and WAY less for shipping.

Struggled with that for about six months since I was on a waiting list just to get the gears.

Well that would have ment rebuiding it myself since there is no one here that I would trust doing it. I wasn't going to do it myself and risk a failure.

If I got an out of town shop to do it I would still have to pay shipping but this time twice unless I drove my car there. Not an option. Shipping was only 275CAD. Gas to Edmonton and back is more.

Also, the difference between the built box vs the RA gears/syncoros/bearings is $1000. Take the cost of doing the rebuild on my gear box plus what my gear box is worth and I end up going with this option easily.

Another big plus. Only a weekend of down time at worst. Should even be able to do the swap in on day if all goes well.
